Well actually Linda, you can thank the nice people way up north for that cold, windy, snowy weather, they sent it to me much against my wishes! Angry But even so I thought it would be nice to share it with my friends in the south! Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

Cindy, I agree with you! Much better to have snow than to have ice. Particularly in areas such as this one that are not really prepared to cope.

That Alaska person better not show her or his face, is all *I* can say!

Hilarious! Hilarious!

I was watching Weather Channel while I was doing exercises in front of the TV. They have named this winter storm and are really showing lots of coverage. It looks really bad up in Minn and parts of North Dakota. Moving down toward Texas and should also hit Ohio and the Eastern Mountains. Lots of nasty cold weather and snow.

Hey, I didn't know Fargo ND was the place to move to, Just watched a show told how there is almost no unemployment and employment in all fields. Also called Silicon Plains, like California is Silicon Valley. Was saying how great life there is. Oh, that would be if you can take the double digit winter lows and lots of snow. Blinking

Rita, it's not just Fargo that is booming. Most of the state is, because of the oil. We have friends that just got back from there, and said McDonald's had help wanted signs up, for $20 an hour! They can't even get people to work for that amount because so many people are making a fortune in the oil fields. Double digit weather is the high, and minus double digits is the low. It was horribly cold when I was there last year, in October and November. I'm in no hurry to get back there again!

Figures a boom state would have to be so cold! But I didn't know any of this about ND. My mental picture of ND is of vast expanse of nothingness. Hilarious!

They said on this show how people from all over the country were moving there for jobs. From all over the world actually.

Yes North Dakota is booming builders from MN are losing their workers to builders in ND because there is not enough housing for all the oil workers. They are building like mad trying to catch up to the demand.

We have had more snow than we need since last night it finally quit this afternoon. I shoveled our steps and sidewalk a couple of times so it would not be so much at a time as the snow was heavy. Then I also made a path in the backyard to take out the dog. Since DH can't do it this year I am getting a workout but I pace myself. Went across the street to get our mail and on my way back I slipped on a icy spot that you couldn't see with all the snow at least I didn't go down completely just to one knee. Now the weather folks are saying it will get to below zero. Thumbs down

Betty, I hope you didn't hurt yourself slipping on the ice.

I guess if I was a young woman then moving to ND would be the thing to do. At my age, it doesn't matter much. Oh well, they did show how far your money there goes as the actually cost of living is very low while wages are high. That would be a very good thing!

It was kind of weird when we were in ND. Lots of road construction was going on, and the company doing it was from Utah. It's a changing state, for sure. I wouldn't want to live there, and not sure that I want to visit again. Too many outsiders are changing the small town atmosphere of most places, and bringing big city problems with them. Way more crime, and houses are going up everywhere in farm fields that used to be for crops. Lots of crop land is going away, because the landowners can make a fortune off of the oil instead. Who wants to farm when they can just sit back and collect a check? I sure can't blame them one bit for jumping on the oil wagon! We have very good friends that are from there originally, and their family has struck it rich too. I'm happy for them! It sure beats farming, which isn't an easy life at all. But, the weather is miserable in the winter, so I guess it has its downside too. Working in the oil fields in the winter must be a horrible job.

It's down to 14 again, and dropping, and colder with the wind chill. No snow melted today since it didn't get above 20! Brrrrrr!

Geez you guys are cold!!!! Group hug Group hug Group hug

ND will soon feel the effects of all the boom & the cost of living will skyrocket as it always does. If the people are getting paid tons of money there, it will soon follow that they will *need* tons of money to live there. Supply & demand & all that.
You couldn't drag me to ND with a 20 mule team & that was *before* the boom. It's one place I have zero desire to ever see. Iowa is probably another. Vegas is certainly somewhere I have no interest in.

Our weather forecast is like a broken record here ---- 81 for highs, 59 for lows, day after day after day. finally on Tuesday they have us as mid 60's high & lower 40's at night. I don't think that arctic cold front wants to dip down our way.
I am a strong believer in the simple fact is that what matters in this life is how we treat others. I think that's what living is all about. Not what I've done in my life but how I've treated others. ~~ Sharon Brown

ND isn't the worst state I've been to, and I liked Iowa! Vegas was nothing more than a layover on a flight. I couldn't care less about the bright lights and big city.

It's downright frigid out right now, at 12 degrees, with a wind chill of 4. It's supposed to get down to 7, so with the wind chill, I'll be under the electric blanket for the rest of the night!

OUCH!!! That is too cold! I'm at 10 degrees, but 5 with the wind chill. That is plenty cold! We decided that we better put a heater in the pump room for the well. It may not be needed, but better to be safe than sorry.

We made it into the 50's yesterday but temps today will start out warm and continue to fall all day long. Predicting 30's by tonight. I didn't know that about ND either. Wonder why we don't see anything on the news or in the newspapers about the boom.

Ann, go ahead and rub in your eighties. Angry We went from 58°f yesterday to 32°f right now. That's as high as it's going to get today. Did get some stuff done outside yesterday. I have been to ND once. That was back in the early nineties during the summer to see my nephew performed outdoors at one of the colleges up there. That same nephew is now a pastor. Go figure. It's cold enough here in Z:5 for me. I see some double digits below zero current temps up that way right now. Brrrrrrr
Betty be very careful out there. Take small steps. You never know what's under that fluffy looking snow.
