I think Margaret is one of the most generous people I know!

We're supposed to get some snow too, but no idea of how much. It didn't freeze last night, and it's been raining since yesterday afternoon, so maybe it won't be snow. I think I prefer snow over rain this time of year. Especially with three dogs. At least when it's snow, they don't track as much mud into the house!

Don't know what you ladies are talking about, cold weather... what cold weather?? It is lovely here, sunny, the snow is melting and it is a warm 35 degrees.

This should cripple us real good, sense we do not know how to drive in snow. Then it will melt and refreeze overnight and become ice... the shiny kind, and the stepford wife clones will wear tight-waisted dresses and report this on the evening news.

33F at 730am, on its way to 50 today. 70% chance of rain tonight, so I *intend* (key word) to plant 2 more shrubs and a couple trees today. Who knows if I'll really do it? But while I'm not one for the standard New Year traditions regarding meals, etc (never much cared for any of the foods Mom said we're supposed to eat as the year turns, to increase our luck), I bought into one piece of folk-wisdom she preached as we grew up.

How you spend your time on NY Day indicates how you'll spend your time most of that year. I want to spend most of this year playing in the dirt, so I figure it's a good way to spend my day, since it's going to be warm-ish. And with the rain tonight, whatever I plant will get watered in.

I hate black-eyed-peas but I try to spend more time doing what I like, so I go to bed. LOL.

We got an additional 2" of snow over night and it looks really cold out. The birds are going absolutely nuts at the bird feeders, fighting over the food. We usually have a very laid back NY day. Mary you are lucky that your weather permits you to be outdoors. No such luck here. It is a day of food and football here with sometimes family stopping by.

Going to be a nice day in the low 50s. I hope that isn't set in stone, Mary. I have to spend at least the first half of my day chasing a couple of toddlers, wiping snotty noses, and changing diapers. God forbid I have to do that all year with TWO OF THEM!?!

Do plan to make only a bite of peas since no one else here will eat them no matter what. But, I am trying to gather all the good karma/luck/fortune I can get, so I'll eat 'em and be happy about it! OOO, ooo,ooo! Just hit me, I can cook the peas then mash and put them in the cornbread batter. Will never even notice it. Yea for inspiration!

Oh my. Went out and shoveled my small walk that leads to the garage where I store my bird seed and it is frigid, only 13 degrees. A perfect day for not going anywhere.

Cold here but not that cold. But the snow and really cold weather is coming our way.

The birds are so hungry in this cold that I had to fill the feeders again. I had a song sparrow come up to about 2 feet away from me while I was filling the feeders. They sure must be hungry in this cold.

I love to feed the birds and really feel that they need the feed in the snowy cold weather.
