Pretty, Rose!
Neal, I have had no difficulty with hardiness of the lilies. Most were only 1-3 years old. The problem is a bumper crop of rabbits this year. I use a product called Repellex that works well, and I either missed these lilies or the bunnies ate 'em anyway.
As a side note, I am pretty convinced the zone 4a designation here is now a bit off as I have several zone 5 plants that are thriving...and I do not provide any winter protection.

Neal, thanks for the lily reminder. It is sad when they disappear after so short a time.

So sorry to hear about all the lost lilies. I have given up on most Orientals. Muscadet and a pink double NOID one are about the only ones that have really last more than a couple years. The OT's do well in general. Both your lilies are beautiful Jo Anne. Glad you still get a few blooms.

Perfect echo Rose. Coleus pick up the colors of other plants so well

Here is Indian Skies daylily making a happy accidental echo with a coleus and some cannas a neighbor gave me.

We have numerous Oriental lilies here and our zone is either 2b or 3b depending on which chart you're looking at. And we do nothing to protect them over the winters, which can even reach -40C at times not including the wind chill factor. It's more likely the bunnies, as Jeanie was mentioning.

Since I posted one before with a daylily the color of the sunset, I was excited when I had the opposite yesterday or the day before. The clouds came rolling in and they were a dark purple-grey color and my flowers on my potato plant nearly disappeared against them. Apparently, though, my camera has a better eye and changed the coloring somewhat so that the flowers appear a bit more purple and the sky a bit more grey than they actually were. Oh well, here is the picture anyway:
