I'm just finishing up buying on the Lily Auction for spring. There are a couple I'm still looking for, and so I keep checking -- and getting myself in trouble each week! Yesterday I won TWIRLING TOWER and BUTTERFLY MOON from Mark Sattelmeier (Abundantdaylilies) and I still seem to have no self-control, even though I have no place to put them when they arrive…

I decided I had to get BUTTERFLY MOON after seeing its picture in our Patterned Daylilies thread, although I admit I had been looking at it because of its really big green throat.

He is the one I got 'STARDUST MEMORIES' from. I am now bidding on 'TIMELESS GIFT' and would really like to get 'RIBBON OF DARKNESS' (Deveto 2013).
TWIRLING TOWER is just lovley and BUTTERFLY MOON too.

I had already won Geneva Afterburner and Sweet Valdosta Memories from Abundantdaylilies. Yesterday I won Kaleidoscope Queen from Pete Harry. I'm trying to not win so many for next spring, since I ordered directly from hybridizers.

I am new at this: buying from the hybridizers at time of introduction, or waiting until someone on LA sells it for half price a year later.

I will always order from Bill Maryott's because he is most generous. Last year I put in seven different orders.

I sold over 300 potted hostas last summer and I am spending the money on daylilies.

Also, I stil have too much area covered by grass.

Does anyone grow OCEAN WILD that is in zone 6 or lower? I was wanting it but a couple of dl friends said it might not be the best choice. I love the look of it.

I have read through this thread, and it makes me smile Smiling ! I just really started to get into daylilies the last two years and have begun to expand my collection. I just found out about the lily auction at the end of summer last year. I am now addict as well!! All these snow days (teacher) have provided me with enough time to shop. I've purchased:

Cradle of Bethlehem
Webster's Pink Wonder
Cherry Ice Cream Smile
Ruby Border
The Blue Parrot
Artist Appliqué
Gamma Galaxy
Hotter than the 4th of July
Little Jet Setter
Two Sues
No Boys Allowed
Vanilla Gorilla
Wild and Wonderful

And I am crossing my fingers...I should have a couple more in a few hours Hurray!

Now....just need to gently encourage my hubby to expand my beds outside. I've already started....so far so good. Who needs grass anyways...less to mow is the way to go!

Thanks for all the warm welcomes! I just won: White Eyes Pink Dragon & Small World Hello Darling. I am watching quite a few. It seems like all the ones I am watching are purples which is weird...how did I end up with that color trend? It seems my daylily preferences keep evolving. I guess that is what happens when you become a daylily addict!

I really wish it would warm up. I'm spending way too much time on the auction, and in the last five weeks have won more than 20 auctions. Twenty that I have no place to plant!!!

Over the years, I've been very grateful for bonus plants and mixup plants. I tend to order a lot of the same color daylilies, or same forms. Bonus plants and mixup plants (not the plant I ordered) help me get a wider variety of colors and forms in my garden.

I feel like last year I was really into ruffles, and this year I'm looking for big flowers with patterns, and I've even started looking at some that twist and curl. I just think it's funny how preferences change from year to year. Wonder what I'll like once I get to the summer? I really hope that everything that I buy blooms for me. I hate having to wait.

Wow. Emily.
The problem is that when you are young your life it is ruined by your parents. When you are older it is ruined by your children.
