Great tip, Elaine. Don't have any of those 2-1/2 gallon jugs of water but I see some of them in our future!

Well those Dang Chickens!

They strutted their little butts right out there into the front yard through the side gate I left open, and went straight to the Swiss Chard in my front beds! Rolling my eyes. Sad .

Well, they didn't take out the center buds at least, and they will regroup. Shoulda took a pick before I rustled them back! Hilarious!

Gotta love the girls havin' a fun day out though. Angel 's

Gotta keep that gate closed!

Good Night Florida gardeners!

David - at least you got them back "home" before anyone else found them.
Perhaps they thought it was their holiday meal!!!!!

15 deg cooler this AM than yesterday. High today will be less than yesterday's low. I was so enjoying the 80+ days.

Its been dry around here and the yard is looking like December. I stop fertilizing in September and lots of my things are going to sleep or already have. They know they are being fooled by all this late Summer like weather, And I know they realize an unexpected slap in the face with that first 25-30 degree night.

It always amazes me how some years we can escape it, yet how just 1 night a year even can change an entire landscape...; Like.....

David - am I supposed to cut my Dwarf Poincienna back?

My hibiscus are loving this weather & budding/blooming for the 1st time this year.
Orange Flame Vine & Bleeding Heart Vine are also going crazy.

Just wasn't sure how far to cut it back. Especially that main stalk which is over 1" thick. Still has some green leaves but stopped flowering a couple weeks ago.

Jean,
I cut mine back in September for the last round of blooms. This time of year in our surprise freeze prone area, I leave them alone through Winter. Cutting them back now will encourage new growth , and when our freezes hit will make them weaker and far more likely to die. Smiling

I agree with David. If you haven't done it by now, I'd leave it until early spring. Cut it in late Feb or March, give it some fert and it will 'spring' into action again.

Mine still has blooms, so I'm heading for that schedule too.
