Nice to know we got rain in DeLand, David. Hope it didn't stop before it got to our house!
Any day you wake up on the sunny side of the grass is a good day.

Rain to the north of us, rain to the south of us. We are the land the rain forgot! From the map, you are going to get lots more today, Hetty. We are in between the rain bands, and it doesn't look good.
I went shopping for some plant gifts for a few friends, and was going to buy poinsettias to decorate our new porch, but this nice variegated white bougie jumped into my arms instead. I think I'll find a nice pot for it and put a red bow around it for the season.
Pretty happy with the little Tillandsia mounts I made for my friends, too.

I bought a big slab of cork about 18in by 2ft. from Tropiflora last spring, and have just been breaking off chunks of it for orchid mounts since. For $15 for the slab, I've made at least 10 mounts.
That's a clever way of making your own mounts. You can buy these by the (small) slab but I bet it is much more economical to get a big piece and make your own.
I hope we don't get too much more rain. We have two parties to go to and both are outdoors!
The white Bouganvilla is AMAZING. As aTara said, we are too far north to keep them happy more than a couple years. I had a HUGE one but, after 4 years, it just stopped blooming.
We had 5 min of sun but that is now gone..................no, wait, back again!!!!! Gonna be one of those "who knows what it will do next" days.
Blessed are the Quilters for they are the Piecemakers.
Is everyone indoors hibernating???
My tall Amaryllis did not like the 40 deg 2 nites ago. The blooms just wilted. The shorter stemmed ones were fine. Now they are all living on the sun porch. The tall one does have another shoot starting.
Keep waiting for more leaves to fall so that going out with the leaf "shredder/sucker" will be more worth my while.

"Looks" like Winter out there. A layer of frost is glistening on everything this morning. A chilly 46F right now…but warming to 68F (so they say) today.
Guess I should go out and see if there's any damage...

Hi everybody! I'm finally shaking the severe case of bronchitis I ended up with; this is the first day I've felt halfway good in a couple of weeks and I'm finally getting some energy back.
Elaine: That is one really gorgeous Bougainvillea in your photo's on the 15th ... wrapped with a big red bow it will definitely be a beautiful Christmas decoration. Love those Tillandsia's too ... colorful!
I have a big Christmas Cactus in full bloom and a couple of small ones; three Amaryllis in flower, a couple of orchids and a Lipstick Plant. The Magnolia tree in the side yard has a few pretty blooms for the holidays too.

The White Bougs are spectacular Elaine! I love thosw little Ionantha Tillandsias too. I use them a lot in the miniatures and small tropical pots.

I've been thinking of you Q. and wondering how your greens are doing. Mine are doing great, and even the Swiss Chards are regrouping after the girls feast. I'll send some pictures in the next day or two. The greens love this cool weather. I'm looking forward to seeing yours too and love those planter boxes. You were so wise to add those 2x4 up sticks for draping covering if needed.

In one of your older messages you said you weren't a gardener that much anymore Lin.?!!! Your beautiful new pic's disprove that!

We've skipped the frost this go around here Ann. Our time is coming though I'm sure.
Lovely pictures, Lin. My Christmas cactus have already bloomed. They bloomed right on time when we were in Illinois, but now they have become Thanksgiving cactus!

Glad to hear you're feeling better Lin. I was starting to wonder why you had been so quiet & didn't recall you saying anything about going on a trip.
Lovely blooms! Lucky you.
Nice to know the Swiss Chard is recovering David.

Oh, so sorry you've been ill, Lin. We missed you. What lovely flowers bloomed for you while you were down!
I'm really smitten with the little orchid with that spotty lip. Do you know the name?
We had no frost, but are lining up for another night in the 40's, so a bunch of orchids came indoors, and other things are going to be covered up tonight again. I have tomatoes blooming, and if I can keep them warm enough, they might set fruit.

Hoping they set fruit for you Elaine. Fingers crossed.

Lin, so glad you are back and feeling better! Bo is looking great as well! The pics are gorgeous! My Lipstick plant is looking really puny about now! Good to see yours looking great and blooming! The orchid that is pictured right above the lipstick…beautiful!!! What is it???
