Gorgeous pictures! Especially love those waxwings. I witnessed a flock of them devour all the berries on a Holly tree in 10 minutes flat last year! Exquisite!

I did a quick search of my photos and I can't believe I don't have a pic of a juvie White-crowned, in the fall I usually have dozen of them, although this fall not so many .

Pale-headed Rosellas are quite shy, broad-tailed parrots.


Laughing Kookaburras dive and snatch food from you while you are trying to feed other birds.
These are giant kingfishers with attitude.

Everyday about the same time we have what I've begun calling "the bathing frenzy" where gobs of birds all come down & decide to bathe at one time. That birdbath is out the bay window in the kitchen & I watch them vie for position. They get so crazy & there are so many of them that they often fly into the window. EEK! I keep waiting for 1 to kill itself but so far, so good.
I have bunches of photos of them bathing en mass & have been meaning to post them but just haven't had time so far. I've counted 11 in 1 birdbath at one time ~~~ that seems to be the max that will fit at one time. There is another birdbath in back & they get just as crazy in that one too. They will line up on the carport & garage roof awaiting their turn. It's so silly!

White or Sacred Ibis. It has become the terror of outdoor restaurants. They have task forces to manage them.


PS. My avatar is a silhouette of a Noisy Friarbird, a large honeyeater with a bare featherless head. I have been trying to photograph it for you properly but no luck yet.

Glen, you could say that the shrikes come in for feeding, they prey on the birds at the feeders and those feeding on the ground.

Noisy Friarbird...... I bet there's an interesting story of how they got their name. Honey eater...wow.
I can see how the Ibis have become pests at outdoor eateries. And they aren't exactly small birds either. You seem to have an abundance of large birds down under. Almost everything you've shown us is on the larger side. Not little itty bitties.
