Ah, what a shame, no south floridians and not even a mention of Monts? Oh well, I guess I will have to content myself with our northern neighbors Rolling my eyes.

Budgielover, nothing at all! your wonderful folks, it's just difficult to believe that there are not enough SOUTH Floridians to keep a thread going, it gets confusing for this old man to search north, east and west threads, but, as I said, I will keep lurking on my northern neighbors goings on Smiling

Why not go to your local sites like craigslist and promote the site. It may be booted but not before some people see it. Most people come as referrals from other sites or people. If you're on facebook, etc, promote it there too. If you promote it they will come. lol

Jim,

We realize that this is all 'new stuff' to you, but there will never be anything like 'Dave's Garden". Please adjust your browser so that you don't get the 'pop-ups'.

Does anyone know if there are any type tomatoes that can be successfully grown or started now, early May? I think I've missed the boat, would like to try some in E-buckets.

I just got a few big boys to put in a raised beds (only pond liner). There are some varieties that have been bred for Florida summer heat. I just started some of the little "everglades tomatoes" (cherry size)that hold up well in the summer heat.

Did you just start from seeds; or small plants like they sell at Home Depot? Also, where did you find the "everglades tomatoes? The gist of your post is--It's not too late for some thing huh? I googled Fla summer seed planting, and other than radishes, and Okra, not much there.

I started the "everglades" from seeds I got from someone (I think Molly Mc, but not sure). It's just one of those that gets passed around but you can occasionally find them for sale on Ebay, etc. I have a few left I can send you. Just c-mail me your address.

Some Mom & Pop Nurseries carry them.
They produce up here in the chilly north until Jan.
You can also start them from cuttings also.

Jan, since this is your cubit, would you consider starting a thread for only fruit trees? I've searched all the cubits and other then Bananas, I can't find anything! I have star fruit, and of course Banana, Black Sapote, Custard Apple (also called sweet sop), Lemon, Orange Trees etc. I also now have Passion fruit, but I don't think that's considered a tree. I just gotta believe there are folks out there who either have or are considering planting fruit trees.
