You can do it! Keep them going for those of us that were unable to keep them going...My 1st attempt, I lost all to not keeping an eye on moisture, my 2nd attempt resulted in bottles of green soil and will make 3rd and last attempt when it cools down a little.

Very nice Julia.
I have to mist/water the ones I rowed out in flats. They really tend to dry out fast. I'm going to try rowing some out in the sandy loam compost I have, to see if they will do better than the potting mix.

Mine are in half compost and half sand. This was a mix at Pacific top soil and decided to try. Very hard to keep moist but may be good this winter.

I just got some new photos of some of my seedlings from last year. They really loved the rain we had and are showing some very different color changes.

Thank you Chris. So far these two have no look a likes out in the beds. I am keeping a photo journal of them to keep track of the color changes throughout the year.

It has been so hot here that everything is really bleached out in coloring. It will be interesting to see what it looks like this fall. Except the mature rosette won't be around. Sad

Sad
Well at least everything is watered deeply and shouldn't have to be watered again for at least a few days.

How are you holding up Connie?

Well most of my semps are in containers and the heat is harder on them in that case. The semps I have growing directly in the garden are doing great. I think when they are right in the ground the mass of surrounding soil is a good buffer for the heat.

I agree. I am so ready for some cooler weather. I need to add more soil to most of my raised beds, but sure not going to do it when the temperatures are this high. Needs to be in the 70's for me.

Lynn, are you having to add more soil because the raised bed soil is compacting? My bed has a rock dressing that looks uniform throughout but I have noticed that some semps seem to be sinking under the dressing. Maybe I need to push aside the rocks and add soil too?
