I really like this photo of lichens, which are very much a part of the landscape in the alpine zone, among the rocks and clean air (some lichens are sensitive to air pollution). The yellow one is
Cetraria cucullata or maybe
C. nivalis, and the weird white fingers are
Thamnolia subuliformis, I think. In the background is
Silene acaulis.
Edit: This is in Kananaskis Prov. Park, Alberta, west of here... just before treeline, where it starts getting really good!
