Hello everyone, its been quite a while, and a zillion things have happened to me, but I'm still here. I remember most of you, and I see there's some new ones. Anyway, I've got a question about insecticides. I,m trying to get away from all the chemicals, and do any of you remember how to use cayenne in the landscape? I've talked to some people around here and they swear by it--say its all they use. Do you just mix it with water?-or is there something better? I'm not targeting any special bug, just a random use thing...,thanx--

A new member here…Wanted to stop in, say hello, and introduce myself…
I transplanted to Jacksonville from Rhode Island when I was a teen, some 40 years ago. DH and I will be celebrating 30 yrs. of marriage this Fall. Childless by choice,but, a mom to 2 adorable 4 legged kids. Boston Terriers, a boy that's 2yrs., and a girl,3yrs.

My gardening style? definitely "free style". No formality here! As long as it draws in the birds and butterflies, then I'm a happy camper. Learning to garden without "cides". Can't have those if you want the 'creatures'! Love growing perennials, and herbs, and I started growing some veggies for the first time this last Fall/Winter.
I have found that being in my garden is the best therapy out there!

I'm really looking forward to searching through ATP's different forums, and, I'm sure, learning a lot along the way!

I don't like "cides" either except when it comes to Amdro for the fire ants ---- it's the one "cide" I use.

Thanks terrafirma. It's an orchid cactus by the name of "Miami" and I don't have to stay up all night to watch it open. It opens in the daytime.

Tara's dogs are so very well behaved. Spent a day at her house & did not hear a single sound from them. in fact, I'm not sure seh really has dogs!!!!!

I have 3 kids, 2 are in college. My poor son gets to help me lug around bags of mulch and dig holes. Now where did that boy go...? I enjoy cooking, reading and gardening. I have really gotten into propagation, unfortunately it is frowned upon in this establishment to use the whole patio as my nursery! I have one cat, although I could easily be a crazy cat lady...see above rule about patio.
