sorry to hear that! They had a couple that they hybridized themselves if I remember correctly - a large fuzzy reddish one!

Oooo that's a lovely pic Chris! Is it one of yours?
Happy Valentines all :)
Hubby gave me some money to order myself some semps this morning, along with a big bag of wool for crocheting - he knows me so well <3!
Here's what I've chosen:
1ea. Sempervivum “Black Velvet”
1 ea. Sempervivum “Grey Dawn”
1 ea. Sempervivum "Silverline"
1 ea. Sempervivum “Oddity”
1 ea. Sempervivum “ Freeland”
1 ea. Sempervivum “Engles”
1 ea. Sempervivum “Hayling”
1 ea. Sempervivum “Night Raven”
1 ea. Sempervivum “Plumb Rose”
1 ea. Sempervivum “Topaz"

Lots of my favourite silver and grey varieties there :)
I've ordered from Perhill plants since I've had such beauiful semps from them before. But only just realised that they are in Worester - much of which has been under water for almost a fortnight now. I hope that ther nursery is unaffected :(
We've had horrendous storms in the last 2 months, large swathes of the country are underwater, some of which has been flooded for 5 weeks and counting. Here winds of 96mph were recoreded on Wednesday along with 14 meter waves. Houses lost rooves and fences were blown clean away. I lost the felt off my shed roof, but thankfully didnt sustain any other damage.
We're being batter again by another storm right now as I type, fingers crossed it doesn't get as bad as Wednesdays.
Pia, i hope that you are ok, I'm pretty sure that you must be in or around the area of the Thames basin that's flooded right now?
Thinking of you xxx

Ugh! I lost half of my post! I've ordred these from Perhill Plants, but I just realised that they are in Worsester and much of that area has been under water for the last 2 weeks - I hope that the nursery is unaffected.

ea. Sempervivum “Black Velvet” £1.90
1 ea. Sempervivum “Grey Dawn” £1.90
1 ea. Sempervivum "Silverline" £1.80
1 ea. Sempervivum “Oddity” £1.80
1 ea. Sempervivum “ Freeland” £1.90
1 ea. Sempervivum “Engles” £1.90
1 ea. Sempervivum “Hayling” £1.90
1 ea. Sempervivum “Night Raven” £1.90
1 ea. Sempervivum “Plumb Rose” £1.90
1 ea. Sempervivum “Topaz"

We've had nonstop staroms since Christmas. Much of the UK is under water - some places for more than 5 weeks now. We've been lucky in that we've not had flooding, but on Wednesday 96mph winds and 14 meter waves battered our area. Rooves came of houses and trees were down everywhere. we were fortunate in that we only lost the felt of our shed roof.
We're being batterd by another storm as I type, I'm hoping it wont get quite as bad as Wednesays one :(

@PiaLouiseSourvi
I've been thinking of you, I know you must be close if not in the area of the Thames basin that has flooded. I hope that you've escaped the worst of the water. Please let us know how you are getting on xxx

ETA Oh Boo! I just realised that I already have "freeland" and "night raven" I should have checked my plant list here before ordering!

Peter, hope you don't mind, but I'm posting your comment from the database here so all can see. I'm removing the photos from the database and wanted to make sure everyone got the word about this one. Thank you so much for all your help keeping our information correct!

@gg5 - you got this plant from me so you'll want to correct your information
@sandnsea2 - I got one of these plants from you. I also got one from Young's Nursery and it's the same as the one I got from you, so I thought that may be where you got yours. I'll notify Young's also.

banker07 said:sorry Chris;

it's a lovely semps - but it's not Highland Mist;

all photos here show webs like S. arachnoideum but the parents of Highland Mist are S. marmoreum subsp. erythraeum cv. Glasnevin and S. ciliosum var. borisii;

there shouldn't be any arachno-web....

Thanks, Kate - It is a pretty NOID. What a nice gift from your husband! Looking forward to seeing pictures of your new babies when you get them. Those storms sound terrible. I hope you don't get any more damage. Will be anxious to hear from Pia also.

Kate - I hope you are dry and warm!! I saw photos of waves crashing over a street in Cornwall and thought of you in Wales, but forgot to post - glad you did!! Be well and how sweet to get more semps!

This isn't about semps (the area I'm putting this is too shady for them - I tried last year) Thumbs down
Thought people may be interested in seeing my finished (finally! Hurray! ) slate project - this could hold semps if placed in full sun, but I'm putting it in shade where it will hold ferns and creeping jenny and such!
These photos are just showing the finished base - I've wired the "hardware cloth" (mesh) around all sides. Then wired in the black weed block paper and the slate pieces. Its exciting to have this finished! Hurray! The glue on the bottom is from a first attemp which didn't work - it wasn't strong enough. It will be covered in soil so I'm not concerned about it.

Thanks Marilyn!! It has been a pain, because I kept trying things that weren't working, and getting discouraged...but I finished! (if I remember I got the slate in June, with the idea that I'd make this - so it only took me 8 months or so!) Hilarious!

Yes, I think the FUN will definitely be in the choosing and planting of the lucky chosen plants! What a project it will be.
Greg, Can I ask if this is another container similar to the previous planting container that you had with the beautiful woman's head or did you take all that apart and renovate it to make this one???? I still have a picture of that planting container with the millions of semp surrounding the head.... Whistling

Hi Bev, yep this is a 2nd one, the other one is recuperating, I had it in too much shade last summer, and kept thinking it would be fine, and by the time I thought to move it into the sun, it was mostly dead...I have it all replanted and the semps are looking pretty well. My building manager said he'll help me put it up in part sun (full winter sun, and part sun in summer so it should be good!)
Thumbs up

Good morning Lisa. You know we will welcome her, we love having new people join in. Hurray!

Greg I am loving your slate planter. Really looking forward to seeing it planted. Will you be keeping it standing, or lay it down? I may have some plants for your new shade garden when you come in May. Smiling

Chris, thank you for the heads up on Highland Mist. I will have to check mine out to see if it is the correct one. It was new to me last year. Hope it made it through all this yucky winter weather. Will try to check it out today and report back.

Wow Kate, that is a great list of new semps. Can't wait to see photo of them. Have you heard from Pia lately? I sure miss her. Hope everything is okay.
