Wow Lynn, you've made a lot of new beds since I've seen a picture of the whole area last. How exciting!!! Your semps look all tucked in and cozy too.

Lynn, they are a great safety Sempervivum. Nice big blanket of snow on it. The snow always helps to protect the plants. You have a beautiful landscape! We'll ask for a picture if there is no snow.

valleylynn said:Peter, do yours revert back to the normal form?

yes - but they all came as mutated offsets from a normal rosette; I know that behavior from Bedivere Crested; the crested offsets of a normal rosette rarely produce new crested offsets;

the same with all the mutations which come from a normal cultivar;

if you are very lucky you may have one of ten producing mutated offsets and keep mutated themselve; this lines you have to develope;

What was really odd is that I had two lovely Monstrose rosettes that both produced wonderful Monstrose offsets. Come fall they all started reverting to normal leaves?

Laszlo, as soon as the snow is gone I will get a new photo of the same view.

Chris - its not unusual for Seattle (Pacific North West) to get snow even as late as mid March. Rare and usually doesn't stay but it really just depends on weather patterns. If the winds are coming from the north they are arctic and cold, if they are coming from the south they are warm and cozy!! Thumbs up These winds are mostly coming from the north! I tip my hat to you.
Marilyn agree with you - stay safe and warm everyone!

Lynn, my little plants are also changing. 1 Stay flame, flame 2.not. Not stable. Little sprout development. It is difficult to reproduce. I love the color. Very nice variety for all seasons. Therefore, always be expensive. I tried leaf propagation, but it fails. Remains of small plants cutting propagation.

Greg, I remember visiting Seattle on business in late April and they had 4 inches of snow on the ground and they really
freaked out about it.

Today we got up above the zero mark and will get into the 40s by the weekend.. COME ON SPRING Hurray! Hurray!

I am not foolish enough to think we will have no more snow but perhaps it will not get sub zero again..... hope springs eternal.... Hilarious!

Just saw on TV that in Dec. & Jan. we've had 35 nights below zero, and 45 days below average. It's -6 now with a windchill of -24. I don't believe we've seen temps above 30 for more than 1or 2 days in months. I'm with you guys - no more sub zero weather!!

I miss my babies!

Oh Chris, what a sweet little semp. Lovey dubby
Something to remind us what is coming. Hurray!

At least our temps are reasonable. We are at 26 degrees this morning. I measured the snow last night before I went to bed, 11 inches. And it is snowing this morning.
Went to the mail box this morning, the snow was up to my knees. And I don't want to hear any short jokes.

Crimson Velvet, is really a very luvly semp. Is it on your list for sale ? Have to go over and look.

I know your weather in Michigan has been way worse than we have had here. Even when it was -2 all day we had
sunshine. And your snow totals have exceeded ours too.

Let's all think spring. Group hug Group hug

Wow Lynn, that's a pretty major snowfall!

You might luck out Julia. Smiling

Marilyn, I haven't updated my "for sale" list for this year yet. I like to wait until the snow melts so I know for sure what made it through the winter (since I grow all of mine outside, not in greenhouses). But I'll make a note that you like that one and I'll be sure to let you know. Hurray!

Thinking Spppppring. Hurray! Green Grin!

Just measured the snow, it's over a foot now, and still snowing. It's suppose to turn to freezing rain later today. Temps staying in the 20's until Monday. Then a solid week of temps in the mid to high 30's and rain everyday.
We may have flooding this coming week. Crying
