Thanks everyone. I have not had a dog in ages but I wanted a furry friend for myself. So I did lots of research on small dogs and decided on a Papillon.

I had ordered dog supplies on Saturday from a fantastic on line place called Chewy.com For any of you pet lovers (cats and dogs) if you are not familiar with them do check them out. Great, great prices and excellent service. They had crates and food and toys and leashes and all sorts of stuff one might need.

Anyway I just got it all today so at least I have supplies for my pup.

First Ebb Tide bloom...

wow, a rose bloom already? man. I don't even have leaves... which is good because it was about 4degs last night when we went to bed.

Lovely rain just starting here, rose buds everywhere but they are still a ways off from bloom time, unlike So. Calif!

We had just a small amount of snow but our warm spell is over. And it is supposed to get even colder in the next few days. Time to stay indoors.

I bought a dog crate for Lily because there are times one wants to shut a pup in safely. I set it up, put a nice soft blanket in and she went in my herself and is now taking a nap.




Last year the roses started left bud swell in mid March but the year before they were fully leafed out by mid February. At the rate we are going her it will be April before they get leaf bud swells. What a winter.

Rita - My dummydog Waffles loves her crate and gets perturbed if Sebastian or one of the cats is in it. I have to shoo them out so she can go in. I still have to crate her if we're not home or at night.. she still chews things. *sigh* And winter is still here too.. we won't see green for at least another week to 2 weeks. I doubt the forsythias will be blooming before the end of March, let alone the lilacs starting to think about blooming. And I don't have any leaves on any of my roses.. nor will I for weeks and weeks.

Yea, it's the pits that spring is so far away.

I'm not sure . Right now it looks like it might just miss us .

My flight to California got cancelled, so we're going to try again tomorrow!
The ice and cold here are bone chilling miserable. Guess I won't be seeing the garden show in Del Mar after all.
Assuming the planes can take off tomorrow, I hope to be visiting several gardens and nurseries this week. My daughter has warned me that it is raining cats and dogs there, but you know what? Every single time I have been to visit her, whether it was when she lived in Las Vegas, or in sunny California, it has been raining. She swears I bring the rain.
All I have to do is put down money for a ticket or a tour somewhere and the rain starts. But...I'm a gardener and I love rain and snow because it means the plants are smiling.
It's 6 degrees here now. I'm leaving my coat in the car in Kansas tomorrow, hehe.

Oh that's just a perfect way to think about it! I'm solar-powered! Thank you @porkpal! In fact, the day we turn our clocks ahead (soon!) (next week?!?) is my favorite day of the year!

SO sick of this weather! The bitter cold is just relentless.

Yesterday was in the 70s; this morning it was 23 and everything is frozen. Tomorrow will be rainy/sleety and worse, YCCK!
