I just watched all of the Super Bowl commercials on YouTube. I noticed a definite bear theme -- the Chobani bear, the bears dancing with Ellen Degeneres, the bear doing the slow clap, the skiing Labatt bear and, of course, Fozzie Bear in the commercial with the Muppets.

That's funny! I had not made that connection. Puppies were what I noticed, and maybe it's because we have a puppy in the house. His real owner named him "Bear" but we have been calling him Puppy Brother.

I did like the pistachio ad! And the Kia & Laurence Fishburne ‘The Matrix’ one where he starts belting out opera music at the end of the ad. Those two really stood out to me.

I will work on going through my Lists here and adding comments!

We had a lot of snow here yesterday. News saying it was a record for the day at Central Park in NYC at 8 and a half inches. But Staten Island got 11 inches.

Wow! That is a lot!

Although it wasn't as cold in my garden as Rita's, I was out watering the roses again wearing multiple layers of clothing ... dang ! it felt cold. However, I can see the benefit of the watering in the plants this morning.

I got all of the roses and trees watered in front of the house, and managed to get one of the street beds weeded and ready for more mulch while working out in front. I also got the one of the side yards watered on the house pad level and removed the suckers from the dogwood tree while that was going on.

Since the days are a bit longer, I can get more done, but I do wait until the temps are above freezing before I go out to work ....

Great job Lyn, wish I could give you some of my snow to use.

It's cold and raining here. I can't picture myself doing any garden work; it is hard enough to be motivated to keep up with the necessary farm chores!

And, yes, Lyn, weeds with ice on them would be really hard to pull! I admire your industry.

It's snowed almost every day this month.. not that I'm complaining because we desperately need the moisture. We're not as hard up as some areas of CA, but it's bad here. As I'm looking out the window here at work, I'm seeing massive big fat flakes flying furiously through the grey air. Gee, that sounded nice, didn't it! LOLL!! Anyways, had some nice weather last week so most of my old snow had melted, but have gotten at least another 6-8" since it started snowing last Thursday and it keeps coming down. Most of it is the powder stuff which is great for the ski resorts, but I'm not planning on skiing in my front yard, so I'll take the sugar snow (that's the big wet stuff).

No, we didn't get much rain. I'd say maybe the first half inch of the soil got moist. It's bone dry when I go deeper.

Rita ... I'd love to have some of your snow, but I'd still be outside in the cold spreading it around ....

On behalf of all the people of southern California, to all the people of northern California, please accept my apologies. I am so sorry that I took your grandmother's water -- while she was in the shower!

California is a great visionary state capable of figuring out how to fix our water problems -- from the Delta to the central valley all the way to the Salton Sea. Great thing about big infrastructure investments? Fix the problem & put people to work?

It almost rained the other night. I saw droplets in the morning. Need rain!

Geez. Weather forecast. Some snow Saturday, some snow Sunday or maybe Monday morning. Big storm Wednesday into Thursday. I am ready to scream!

It has definitely been a worse than average winter for much of the country, but It can't go on forever - can it?
