Yep, just the right size to stand on when you concentrating on something else.

It is very tiny indeed, but hanging in there. It will pick up and look better for a while, then revert back to being tiny, just can't seem to get its motor revved up!

If it were mine, I'd give it a drink of room temp stale beer.

There was a product I had once, that I got from a farmer's market---it was some kind of enzyme that would bring plants back from death's door.
Haven't found it again, but it was good stuff.

I don't drink myself, but every once in awhile will give plants here some beer combined with molasses, dish soap, etc. to perk them up.
There's probably a plant tonic recipe somewhere on the web.

My little seedlings have had a time this year with fungus gnats. Think that is about to be beaten--thanks to all the little lizards helping out too.

Just want to say too that the plants I got from Wilds turned out to be somewhat better than I expected.
Not real big, but not as small as might have been.

Hazelcrestmikeb,
I have a few NOIDS in part of my garden that have been there for years, (too much shade) and they are still only a few fans. Of course with my memory I may have snitched a few fans here and there and not remember it. Awesome blossom is actually in a prime location for a late arrival to the garden: nice sun, great soil, and plenty of moisture. So, we shall see in a couple of years how it does, hopefully it will have at least survived! Last year was the first year I bought any "named" daylilies, so it is interesting for me to see how much they have multiplied. Most of them I planted as single fans because I was trying to make them cover a larger area, so to see two, three, or four fans just thrills me. I have never had an actual "clump" of daylilies and this year I will have. One of the few plants that was not planted as single fan (those that were multiple fans did better) 'My Path' is going to be a very nice clump. I think I counted twelve individual fans in there, it was loaded with blooms the first year, can't imagine what it will look like this year.

Update on Awesome Blossom. I went out yesterday to check and I found four fans. Some increase faster than others.

Finally received my daylilies (10 + a freebe) from Gilbert. All planted.

They looked ok to me. For $2 per plant, it is hard to complain.

frankrichards16,
Which ten did you get, was your bonus also'Crimson Pirate'? That was my gift plant and I checked it the other day and I think I had something like ten fans already! No wonder it is a bonus plant, they can't give it away quick enough. Plus, I already had it, but I do think I am going to like it a lot, love having plants to give away, bought it at Walmart I think last year so it has not bloomed for me yet, but it does have scapes.

Frank you got a nice haul there. When I bought my first batch from GW I also ordered CM, I got one called Judy's Love instead. JL is not registered.

Crimson Pirate is a very prolific plant around here. It is also a budbuilder.

Mike, does Crimson Pirate send out stolons like ditch lilies?

Glen, it does not. I read of a few others that did, but CP is not one. I have four clumps wish I could send you one. It blooms for a long time here. Imagine what it will do in AU.

I used to grow CP and my mom has it. It always behaved itself for us even though it is vigorous and multiplies well.
I never had trouble digging it out if that is what you are asking. It was not invasive for me. It bloomed like crazy and I liked it.

I have not been on ATP in a while. When I saw this post about Gilbert and Wild I had to reply. I have been growing daylilies for 25 plus years. My collection has grown to over 400 varieties. I sell myself now but not on the scale that they do. I ordered from them in my early days and have never lost a plant that I had bought from them. Sometimes small is ok. I believe they settled in quickly and 90% bloomed that year. I cant remember the varieties I bought from them but I'm sure they were all true to name. Hazlecrestmikeb I purchased Judy's Love from them and love it.

Paula good to see you. I traded some of Judy's Love to a lady in Michigan because she had a good friend by that name. I got Stand Up Double.

My order from Wild's arrived last week Thursday. Yes, the plants were small, probably had been in cold storage over winter. Three of them came in little pots: "Bridgeton Elegance", "Forbidden Desires" and "Unique Style". Of course, those plants were in better shape than the others. The others I ordered were "Fooled Me", "Marque Moon", "Pandora's Box" and "Siloam Ethel Smith". The last two varieties I already had from last year, but the price was right, with a BOGO sale, so I bought them again. All plants are now properly potted up and beginning to grow, except for one tiny "Ethel Smith".
I was interested in others' comments about the free extra plant they received. While I have purchased ONLY shorter plants from Wild's, they sent me a free plant of "Salmon Sunrise", which was shown as a 34" tall variety. I notice now that "Salmon Sunrise" is not even showing up on Wild's on-line catalog anymore. They must have gotten rid of all inventory. (I hope someday I'll also be able to purge older varieties in favor of newer, better ones.)
Last year I purchased a shortie called "Schnickel Fritz". From pictures, it has nice double, near-white blooms. Wild's listed it as 'new' last season, but it isn't even in their listings this spring. Mine just barely came through the winter, and its single fan looks pathetic. Maybe their stock behaved similarly.
Weather here today, Friday the 9th, is cool with light showers. The new daylilies should be very happy out there.
