dirtdorphins,
Very pretty, it looks purple to me also. If I took a picture with my camera it would probably look blue! Smiling

I don't know what the deal is with these but when mine bloomed last year 1 was blue and 2 purple. The other 2 were mislabeled red species tulips.

Everyone's blooms are lovely. Rita, your bed of crocus is spectacular!

It's been really hot here, the tulip blooms are really suffering, and other bulbs are growing fast and blooming. Thank goodness we have some rain and cooler weather coming starting tomorrow.

Here are a few blooms from today.

Red Hot Tulip Mix is starting to bloom.

Nice ones Annette! Especially Red Hot Tulip Mix and Moris Gudanov.

That bed of crocus, as you put it, is really four rows of daylilies moved from another area of the garden. Then between I put bulbs. Between the rows and between the clumps are lots and lots of tulips. Then on top of the tulips I put the crocus so that it would be very colorful.

Honestly, it should look like a tiny slice of Holland here as I put in thousands of tulips. Not to mention the other stuff.

It was really too much work last year but I am glad that I did it. I really planted lots of bulbs that will return year after year. So I am glad.

All purple flowers taken with my digital camera always looks blue. Have no clue how to change it. My new iPhone, however, takes pictures fairly true to color. Dirtdorphins - that is one cute species tulip.

Lots of lovely new stuff you got blooming, Annette.

I bought some tulips last year when it was more than 50% off. On the left is a photo taken 2013. On the right is what came back in 2014. Only 4 fringed white ones return. I forgot I had tulips there and planted some kale in that area.

So, with a 33% return, it will be awhile before I plant any more tulips. I don't have the cold that many of you have to successfully grow tulips from year to year. I may have to try some species tulips since they are supposed to naturalize easier - not sure it that applies to warm climate areas.

Not surprised at the poor return in your zone. In fact I think it surprising that any returned. But they sure did look pretty.

Anemone blanda 'White Splendour'
I love these graceful little fellows, it's been years since I've grown them and I can't imagine why I haven't gotten more till now.

I'm so happy to see this little grouping coming into bloom together, as so often bloom times don't line up the way I'd anticipated.

Thanks Dirtdorphins! Those Anemones are precious aren't they! I grew them a long time ago, and recall that they keep getting better each year, as is the case with a lot of the little bulbs. I tried blue shades a few years ago, but very few ever showed. The blue ones in your pic are so bright and gorgeous, makes me think I need to give them another try.

After a few warm days, Daffodils have come along nicely- finally it's looking like spring!

dils are only budding here as of yet.
I'm waiting out a patch of rainy weather before I can get back out there.
