Arlyn, that breed of chicken is called a "Naked Neck" and they have no feathers on their necks, some have a bow tie but usually they don't have any feathers on the neck at all. Good luck getting the chickens passed in your town, but it might be best to get a group of supporters together first. Heck, they allow chickens in Madison, and Milwaukee.

Mary Ann - The chicks are horrendously ugly!!! Seriously ugly factor. And I'd be happy to share what I have if I have any extras. I just have to see what blooms & what doesn't. I only had 1 China Dragon and gave a few Cayenne Peppers away last year.. I barely have any triangles showing up right now, let alone stalks. Probably not for another month or so will I see stalks.

Is there a thread for blues? Those are my favs... I love the reds but the blues.. *swoon!*

Oh Skiekitty....'Blazing Saddles' is an awesome iris! ....and on another note, I love the sound of a rooster crowing. It is a 'home' sound. I have always had chickens and cows until the city moved out and I was 'grandfathered in'. In other words I could keep my stock because I had had it for ages but no one else could start raising stock. One spring in the 80's we had a tornado come through and take out barns, stock and chickens. we found our cattle but did not have feed or a place for them so we sold them. we could not get any more. All I had left was one bantam rooster. He began roosting in an arborvitae right outside my window where I sat in the evening and read or rocked babies. He and I became very good friends and he was a good 'watch rooster'. Since moving to Perry County I live with wolves, coyotes, snakes, bears, panthers and I recently had an email from the game and fish commission saying that I could shoot wild hogs anytime and without a hunting license. So, no chickens in my future. I will fill it with irises.

Toni ! Glad to have you join us ! I see you are from Denver. I have a sister, and her grown children that live in Denver ( they are all nuts for iris ,also!) In fact, one of the" boys"( in his 40's, now) keeps chickens behind his house! In Denver ! ....Arlyn
