May 22 2011 Lyle participated in a home tour of daylily gardens in our area. I went to his tour/garden and had a really nice time! This is one serious daylily garden. Just gorgeous. I have about 6-7 of Lyle's hybridized daylilies and they're doing GREAT! love them! He showed me how to pollinate and I'm going to give it a try! I took a whole bunch of pics but one daylily is prettier than the next... how much pretty can we handle? They're all so unique!
His cubit is here http://cubits.org/desertdaylil...

Susie - Thanks for the kind words about my garden. I hope to see those seedlings blooming next season.

Harold - The seedling looks very nice! You will be able to plant it in the fall for best results. That seedling has very good parentage and with early blooming habits in it's background should be a nice early bloom for the garden.

I have a few photos form this morning a few daylilies are protected, and some are out in the elements and those of you living here in the desert know what i mean...HOT!

This daylily has done well in the garden for being burned alive...lol

Lovely blooms Lyle! My DLs on the north side are still chugging along. 42nd street opened the first bloom on the rebloom scape this am - lovely bloom though the scape is way shorter but more branched. That scape was up before the first even finished blooming!

My Rolling Raven is under the shade in the veggie garden but the foliage is looking really ratty and awful. The new leaves emerging look OK and green so maybe it's just not liking the heat...

The heat has been brutal and will take its toll but your RR in the shade should be fine. Take care of that one, it is one of the best tet spider pod setters on the market...

I have put RR with Cherry Swizzler and hope for some nice kids from that cross in the spring.

Sweet! Can't wait to see those kids! Lovey dubby

Yeah, the heat all of a sudden like that has my plants none too happy. Believe me, I'm guarding RR with my life - lol. I am due to be out of town for 9 days in August and may have to pay a sitter for RR... Not sure if I trust DH to be responsible for it... Rolling on the floor laughing

For those of you growing daylilies, this is a good time of year to divide or plant daylilies you have kept in pots.

Thanks Lyle!
All of mine are now in the ground. I have very healthy looking green leaves about 8-10 inches tall on all my daylilies! I'm envisioning a good blooming season!!!!! The purple iris I got from you has REALLY grown.... after just less than a year I think I'd have to thin those out! Rolling on the floor laughing

I have a new standard poodle, Lexie, this year. It will be a challenge to keep her off the blooms. Blinking Thinking of getting some sort of topiary towers to put over the DLs. Suggestions?

Marie this has not been a good year for daylilies with the harsh summer, but we should be good until late December from this point on...

Thanks Becky! I though the name was appropriate with the mass of bloom this daylily puts on each scape, I had to get the name fast while it was available since most of the desert names are taken by the northerners...lol

Susie - I think next year will be a much better year for daylilies. The iris you got from me is very hardy, the name is Eleanor Roosevelt .
