Lovely little dwarfs! Mine started blooming a few days ago. Hopefully I can get some photos this morning. We had a heavy rain yesterday and they were looking sad.

Looking good Susan, The ones I got from you last year are doing good, hope they bloom this spring, but it will be a while yet I'm sure as cold as things are here yet.

Well, with two days of heavy rain about to start I am a bit worried about the survival of all the buds popping out right now. AND I am getting some soft spots on some of my TB's including Immortality, Tanzanian Tangerine, and Sad Sad Sad "gasp" Grateful Red (my baby!). Bad year for our iris.

SDB Shock opened today and, well, looks pretty much like SBD Experiment's paler sister.

Experiment opened yesterday making the comparison very easy.

This is my first year with the Dwarf iris and I am really enjoying them.

This is one of the most active forums I've seen. It's amazing. I don't feel I can keep up!

Hello everyone!

I think I'm sold on the dwarf irises after seeing Ruby Wings. What a pretty colour! I expected to go out and photograph a bud of one of the 40+ year irises on my property (all the same…or so I thought), and I was shocked to find one was opening and completely different from the ones I saw last year!

Thumb of 2014-04-29/Pwinget/496d69

I wonder what else is there in that crowded iris bed I have.

We had a short winter this year. Last year, we didn't get weather like today until July. I'm trying to control the aphid population by going out every few days and smushing them - no ladybugs in sight.

Well, Hello back ! If they are really crowded, that may be holding back the bloom. Dividing them may help...Arlyn

They really are crowded. I just didn't have the energy in me last year to divide them. I am seeing signs that indicate poor air circulation, which I've attempted to mitigate by thinning out the leaves (bad idea?), and tip browning last fall, which I am now understanding it to be a consequence of poor water accessibility that can be caused by overcrowding. How soon can I divide?

If they're already blooming poorly, or not at all, you can start dividing them right now!!
