Oh I wish I can enlarge further the bloom you got...

My Dahlia Fidalgo Julie just hates the hot full sun..glad it only gets at the most 3 hours ..once it gets the shade, it looks better again. I guess our combined inland heat and very dry conditions is not to its liking. Hopefully that 3 hours is enough for it later to attempt some blooms.

This is my second year growing dahlias, and I'm having good luck.
They like the climate here in northern California, about 20 miles from the
Pacific Ocean.

This monster has over 20 buds, stands 5 feet tall and was grown from seed last year, made a tuber and came back bigger and better. Can't wait to see the bloom I forgot what it looked like

The first flower on a half dozen bulbs...Bumble Rumble
It looks a bit different from the one with the same name...from the same supplier..I had a few years ago...I wondered then about the name.. Then I saw dozens of bumble bees on it... Then I understood... They looked like they were having a rumble..

Very nice, Gordon. Often the first one is different than we might have expected. Eventually, I'm sure it will look like the online photo. Bees do love dahlias.

These are the first flowers this year from dahlia I grew from seed last year. It made a tuber and came back this year, 6' tall and covered with buds. Some ants got into it, I'll have to try and fix that, maybe just spray them off.
