Allamanda 'Cherries Jubilee', also killed to the ground last winter, is in full bloom.

BTW, my spindle palm gave up the ghost and died. It was badly damaged last winter and I was trying to limp it along. Oh well.

Progress in the ornamental grass garden. I can see that cutting back the sweet potato vine will soon become a weekly chore.

Just gorgeous gardens, Jim!!! Fabulous Palm and just everything. The "guardian" statue looks lovely there. Thanks for the show.

The Canary Island Date Palm is worth every penny! Sorry about the spindle palm, but the banana growth and the Allamanda are trying to make up for the loss!!!! Great blue on the plumbago.

Well, I gave the big Canary Island Date Palm her haircut today and the bleeding will stop anytime now. I took 33 fronds off of it. I'll post before and after pictures as well as a look at the 6 inch, needle sharp spines that cause the bleeding. Picture me on the very top of a ladder, reciprocal saw in one hand, hanging on for dear life with the other, one eye looking out for snakes and these 6 inch spines poking me from all directions. Hiring someone to do this chore is looking better and better.

Jim, I feel your pain. My advice is pay somebody to do it, but watch them the whole time. Out of the 45 or so palms in our mobil home park that get trimmed every year, mine ended up looking the best because I stood there and watched the process. They didn't damage any of my plants and cleaned up the mess too. Whistling

They have choices of size books, number of pages, templates, backgrounds and you can override all that and add things etc.
