That's a beautiful bloom, it almost doesn't look real it's so perfect.

Most of my potted plants are outside on a terrace but I guess they count. This is my huge coleus, it's as tall as I am and sits in full sun. I always thought they wanted more shade but this one adapted when I forgot to move it and now I have it where it gets sun all day and all year.

Pachypodium horombense is one of the Madagascar "Pachies", I love the trumpet shaped large blooms.

That is outstanding, Ursula. I love how the texture goes with the pot, too.

So can someone tell me when you know your Jatropha is sleeping and when it's dead? My four inch plant stem is green and the Miami weeds growing in the pot are alive, but it does not want to wake up (or maybe it's dead). Are they evergreen in warmer climes? I'm not sure why I was gifted this weird plant.

Mine is in bloom now. But sometimes I have to wait for leaves.

Can you post a photo? The Miami neighbor has seedlings that pop up in her patio planters. This is one she pulled for me. Wonder how old they have to be before they bloom? Or look alive? Hilarious!

Laurel, have you taken its pulse, to see if it is alive? Whistling

Seedlings of Jatropha podagrica take about 3 years to bloom. ( we are talking about podagrica?) I saw one flowering in Bolivia in early November, it was a good size beautiful leafed out shrub. ( Spring time) No, not the Holiday Inn Garden..... Smiling

If it is totally dormant now, just wait a few weeks into Spring if the growing tip greens up a bit. If the growing tip still looks deadish in a few weeks I would cut it to the point where you might see live tissue.
