Kathy, your beds always look so well planned and painterly. It's so much fun to see what all you others can grow in different climates.

I grow a little of a lot of things, but the big 3 for me are lilies, bearded Iris and daylilies. All grow easily with little care here in Nebraska. Daffs, hyacinths and a few other of the early Spring bulbs are blooming here now. Here is a clump of Erythronium 'Pagoda'. It will go dormant in a few weeks.

My double bloodroot. It's still a bit chilly so they are reluctant to open all the way.

I love the bloodroot, I've never heard of it, really pretty!
Yes, the compost pile! They have a little shop, where every thing they sell is put in a pot at the front. So you can see how things do in the pots. They also have a 'catalogue garden' where each thing is growing. It's a very helpful tool, if you can take advantage of it. Once the bulbs from the pots have gone by, they are offered to the employees and the unwanted bulbs go to the compost pile. I also snapped up a pot of Tecophilaea, another bulb I've never heard of but looks really pretty.

The bloodroots are such interesting little plants. Here is an interesting article about Tecophilaea. Hope yours do well Linsey. http://www.bulbsociety.org/Abo...

The Erythronium seem easy to grow. If I remember right, mine didn't bloom the first year, but have multipied well since then. They have been divided a number of times. It's the shape of the bulbs that give them the name "Dogtooth Violets."
