Jim, all your tropical beauties make me want to move to FL.

Here on the prairie, Hollyhocks and oranamental grasses do well.

Maybe one of the reasons I love lilies is that they do feel a little tropical.

Speaking of ornamental grasses, I'm putting in a new bed to display several types that grow down here. Included in the bed will be:

Dwarf pampas grass
White fountain grass
Muhley grass
Miscanthus sinensis Arabesque (a zebra grass)
Eragrostis elliottii (Elliot's love grass)
Calamagrostis arundinacea Brachytricha (Korean reed grass)

I'm also sticking in a cycad Dioon merolae. I'll cover it all with landscape cloth and red mulch. Then I may put lime green sweet potato vine in as a ground cover. The main obstacle is the heat.

Jim

Great show, Jim. Hope the heat lets your new grasses grow.

I'm not nearly as worried about the grasses growing as I am about these old bones wilting. Sticking tongue out

Beautiful. I used to buy lilies every year but now I have the lily beetles and never buy them.

Stunning is well...STUNNING!

Jim, be sure to post pictures of your grasses. I lost my muhley last winter Sad My agapanthus stays in the sunroom during the winter and it has already bloomed this year in AR. I had one bloom this year from one I grew from seed. Thumbs up

Jean

Any day you wake up on the sunny side of the grass is a good day.
