What do you do with the upper part of the shipping container of a Pratt and Whitney R 4360 20 W A
28 cylinder 3500 hp radial aircraft engine ?
Set up a pond of course!

Here is a first look at this shell! It weighs a lot!

I let the paint cure for about a week and added water 2 days ago.
Today I went shopping at Waterford Garden Hurray! I have a 15 minute drive to this wonderful place.
http://www.waterfordgardens.co...
It was not easy to pick from the gorgeous selection, but -
I came home with 3 Tropical Water Lilies - Carla's Sonshine ( yellow), Antares ( red night bloomer), and Midnight Serenade ( gorgeous blue)
1 Lotus - Shiroman ( creamy white)
some Water Hyacinths, Water Lettuce and some Purple Cabomba.

And now I keep my fingers crossed that they all like their new home, start spreading out and bloom.

That's what I had envisioned down the road when I was presented with that somewhat rough looking half shell.
The yellow one also opened a bud today. Hopefully it won't be raining tomorrow so I can take a picture.
Going fish shopping in a few days...I am thinking Paradise Fish, they won't need a pump/special aeration. And I can take them easily inside in the Fall.

Nice work, Ursula. Very creative and those flowers are quite the reward.

Love the waterlilies and pond idea. Could you send those strong looking guys my way? My brother has an old satellite dish in his yard that I think would make a great gazebo roof. He just thinks it's too heavy to move to my yard and lift up.

Susan, those strong looking guys are husband and son! Smiling
Actually, that thing couldn't be lifted, it weighed ca 700 to 800 kg, so they rolled it on logs/pipes ( the old egyptian way) and lifted it with car jacks.
I like your idea about the dish very much, it would look great!
