Oh yes, it is much more yellow! Do you have the climbing or bush version?

I believe it is the shrub.
It is about 5 ft tall and wide and about 4 years old.

Now I know why I have lost the nice Austin roses that were planted over the years, in the long borders....VOLES!
We just learned of them this year. Everytime I would plant a rose there, it would mysteriously die.
If only they had not devoured those 250+ tulips, they would not have a bounty on their heads!
DBH says "The tulips did them in!". Hilarious! Hilarious!

I really like the Pat Austin, I want to get one in that colour range. Other non-Austin roses I'm thinking of getting are either Brass Band or Cinco de Mayo. The latter is supposed to be very easy to grow as well. I just realized today all my roses so far (aside from mini's) are reds, pinks and mauves.

The zones are Relatively accurate. This a very geologically diverse state, as is all of the west coast. As the advertising says, you can go surfing in the morning and snowboarding in the afternoon. As far as plants are concerned, it depends on how far from the coast, top or bottom of the hill. etc. I'm in a delta, 10 miles from the ocean, but near the mouth of the Santa Ana canyon, so all bets are off. We get the ocean influence (usually) in the evenings, but the desert winds, especially in spring and fall. Also, we are just under the curve on the map, so the northern storms tend to not make the curve, they go straight south and miss us., and we're too far North for the tropical storms. I refer to this as a coastal desert. Record breaking rainfall this year...20", and we won't get any more before Oct. Very confusing to garden in. Orchids do great along the coast, but you can't grow a tomato there. I always push the zones to the max. One year the avocado does well, the next the peach does well. I have a few iris, but I really don't have room for them, so they don't do well for me, because they're to crowded, as is everything in my garden. It's tough trying to grow an acres worth of plants in a mobile home park! Hilarious!

I've always kept this garden how it was when I got here. A mess of orange daylilies, common siberian iris an astilbe, an orange poppy and lots of pink phlox. It reminds me of where I started-a farm garden. But last fall I pulled out a section of orange ditch lilies and have been watching it evolve. A pale yellow trollius, a new spring blooming gentian, a fancy daylily and then today....Azalea Lemon Lights came home with me from an oil change!
