Stunning, No Ensata here yet, beginning to worry. But others are keeping me happy.

I bet you're happy. Your garden looks great!! What does DH think about your crazy idea to make a stream now? Gotta get a goatsbeard from my friend soon (she offered). Great lilies. You have no red beetles I assume. Love your oak leafed hydrangea and that salvia is outstanding!!!

Kathy, your JI are fantastic!
Beautiful, Patti! Love your gorgeous stream. Is that Aruncus?

Thanks, Janice! This weekend is the Japanese Iris Show in my town by our local iris society. As you see, I prefer clear forms and therefore 3 falls as opposed to 6 falls. This limits me because most of the hybridizing now is 6 falls. I think many of them look like tissue paper flowers. Just not what I like. (And probably more info than anyone needed! Hilarious! )

Understand. Hybridizers ruin so many beautiful forms.
Love the fourth blue JI...name and how tall is it, please?

Kathy, Have fun at it. I like the the 3 falls best too, but am a sucker for almost any of them. But really wondering where mine are? Must go check.

Janice, I planted what I thought was an Aruncus years ago, but have no idea and instead, it may be an Astilbeas it doesn't get that tall. Must do some research. Patti

I managed to pry my birthday camera away from my wife a full month in advance. I told her we were going off on vacation in early September and I needed to accustom myself with it before hand. Worked like a charm. I took a walk around the yard and just used basic functions. Here is the result:

Janice the fourth pic is Prairie Twilight. It is close to 4' in it's 3rd year. It is taller than other JIs. I'm sposta divide then but I don't, so it's about 36-40" this year (year 10).

Jim, did you tell us what camera you got? I can't remember (much these days)! It's really a good one if you're getting such good shots right off the bat! I take at least a year before I think like the camera. Oh and what is the name of the tropical striped plant in the last pic? Someone gave me a baby.

The tropical foliage plant is called Tri-color Stromanthe. It's a shade lover, grows to about 4 feet here, and a freeze will kill it so I have to protect it in the winter. Since it is under the live oak tree, I can usually get by with a heavy blanket.

I talked about the new camera over on the photography thread but for convenience, here is the scoop:
My wife got me a new Sony Cyber Shot Hx100V
16.1 Megapixel Back-illuminated “Exmor R” CMOS Image Sensor
Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonar T Lens with 27mm equivalent wide angle lens and 30x Optical Zoom
3.0-inch XtraFine LCD
Full HD video 1080/60p
Backlight Correction HDR
Hi-speed Linear Focus
3D still images and panorama
High resolution iSweep Panorama mode
Anti-blink mode for portraits
Background Defocus

I know, too much camera for a guy like me. Confused

All I know at this point about the 3D mode is that it lets you take images from different angles, combines them and they show up in 3D when viewed on a 3D TV. The anti-blink mode takes 2 or 3 pics in rapid succession, internally compares them, and saves only the one where the subject(s) arn't blinking. I should be thankful they still need me to push the power button.

Jim, Beautiful shots. I won't be getting a 3D TV anytime soon or ever, but sounds like a cool feature. I am downloading some shots from today that I will try to post tonight. Lilies are really popping open. Patti

I'm thinking it would be great to see my favorite orchids in 3D on a big flat screen in the family room. It's something to shoot for.

I am done with lilies. They are all dying slowly and I am not replacing them. Yours are beautiful, Patti. Thanks for posting. Who are the peach rose and the coreopsis?
