Peach rose is a climbing Westerland and the Coreopsis is C.Star Cluster from Garden Crossing (Big Bang series/ whatever that means). Patti

Great Lilies, Patti!
Love the Eryngium too.

Thanks, that Sea Holly is Eryngium giganteum Miss Willmot's Ghost which is biennial but should self sow. It is new in my garden this year. I love all Eryngium. And I love how this one got its name. This is from an article I wrote for our local paper last summer about Eryngium

It was named after the noted English plant collector, Ellen Wilmott, 1858-1934, who apparently had a particular devotion to this prickly plant. To spread her passion, she would do a secretive Johnny Appleseed on all the gardens she visited around England by scattering the seeds of her beloved tall ghostly silvery leaved plant. She would be pleased to know that this plant was finally given Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit in 1993. It is a short lived biennial, but I suspect it reseeds itself in the garden, though hopefully does so politely. Regardless, I am game to grow it for its height of around 4 to 5 feet and for its marbled heart shaped foliage with pale greenish white cones surrounded by silver bracts. I think this drama queen would make a bold statement in my garden.

Boojum, just saw this from Baystate blog. Love that place.

All the new Coreopsis are begining to bloom and they're terrific. They enclude C. 'Redshift', C. vert. 'Sunbeam', C. x 'Cosmic Evolution' and C. x 'Star Cluster'. Don't judge them too harshly by the way they look in the pots. Instead, check them out where we've planted them in our borders and discover just what strong garden performers they really are.

Very interesting, Patti!
Love tall statement plants, too.
The English make use of such wonders....such as Onopordum and Crambe Cordifolia. The English cottage garden books show these at the back of those lush borders. I have grown the Crambe in Mass. It grows a long taproot and is simply amazing. Tried it here, but fear it couldn't take the heat.

Janice, love those tall thistles, but I couldn't get them to return and Crambe got a bit out of control, so I got rid of it. Here is my big back of the border plant, Persicaria or Polygonum polymorpha which has behaved rather well since planting it years ago. Patti

Today is our Japanese iris show. I cut a bunch of flowers and brought them over last night and we will set them up this AM for the public to see. It turned out that I had the most in bloom so I am also providing the JIs for the arrangements, too. I'll take pics to show y'all.

What fun. I had not looked at this thread for awhile. I enjoyed every post and photo all the way from page 6 to the end. Too many favorites to comment on...loved them all. Your gardens are all beautiful. I have lots of land around my house, but little garden space and not a lot of sun in the space that I do have. I used to say that my next house will have a lot of sunny garden space. Now I do not care that much about my next house, but my next garden will have a bit of house space.
