Kathy, it is so funny the reactions he got from people. Easy to forget that not everyone gardens. Wonder what percentage of the pop. gardens?

The poor JIs have opened in days and days of downpours. The garden is a mess and needs deadheading, weeding, and bigtime trimming. And my back is still bad. Groan.

Boojum, I am so sorry about your back and this rain and cold. It sucks! I am in Vt freezing. Got a big indoor project going on,our kitchen needs major repair, so packing it all up, so not outside in our weedy messy yard either. Who would want to be? Just looked at my email. Dang, I can't. This has to be done today and we have dinner plans up in North Pomfret tonight with family that we can't blow off. So totally cranked up to empty the kitchen, pantry and laundry before leaving at 3:00. Giant pain. Not sure we will get it done. Patti

I understand. Pulling out the orchids was like that this year. But I've survived and you will too. Just bought a new garden hat at Verde. Didn't know about the big fire in Brattleboro in May. Looks like downtown is very sad. We ate at Shin La of course. Let me know when we can get together some time.

Fire was terrible. Many stores are now closed forever, including Book Cellar. Verde is a wonderful store, the owner, worked for me for a long time and I always find treasure there. We just got home, long drive, in the rain, natch. Oh my, this June has been one big monsoon. Patti
