We have cooled down considerably so y'all might get some of it down your way by the end of the week.

I have finished the Vanda racks in the greenhouse. Temperature dropped to 53°F for a couple of hours early this am and going down to 46°F on Thursday night. The big move into the greenhouse is THURSDAY! I don't like winter. Thumbs down

All I can say about our weather is that the humidity is down a little, the rains seem to have stopped and the sky looks clear and bright. It is still too hot to work in the garden for more than an hour or two.

Finally getting things organized out in the cage, and at least the sunny area only has one orchid sitting on the floor at the moment. There may need to be more, as I'm running out of time (need to pack for my grandma trip) but I must move everybody back into the cage so they will get watered while I'm away. But the goal is to keep the floor clear so I can keep it clean more easily.

I've had this trellis out against the screening all summer, but I really like the way it displays the orchids against the wall so I moved it back and am attaching most of the small Phals there, as the light and temperature suits them. That little Catt up on top will have to move to a new spot, though . . . next week!

Love your set up Elaine...I have screen envy!
My handy man stopped by last week and built me 3 long benches out on my back patio.. Hopefully it will give me enough space for everything!

Well, today was the big move back into the greenhouse. I was able to pack the Vandas in for tonight. Tomorrow, most of the rehabbed MBG Vandas are going back. Hubby and I created a dedicated area for the Vandas in the MBG greenhouse. The sprinklers are set to come on twice a day and we are going to make a habit of checking them three times a week (once a week spraying).

The MBG Vandas in spike will remain at my house until they are in bloom. That is my reward for bringing them back plus no need to move them while the spikes are developing as they might blast.

Pictures coming tomorrow.

Here they are! Everyone is packed into the greenhouse. I found enough spacing for every plant and hoping we will have enough light with the shade cloth fully removed. As soon as the rest of the leaves fall, we will really have more light. Today I will need to finish arranging the potted orchids now that I have reduced the collection. Need to make sure that they won't be directly under the Vandas.

Such s nice thing when they are all tucked in and clean. Btw Begonias love the space underneath Vandas. So do some Orchids like Stanhopeas.

I am really caught between a rock and a hard place. It was down to around 43F this AM and tomorrow AM is supposed to be 38F. Sighing! Regardless of where I put all the porch furniture stored in my two greenhouses, I have simply got to empty them, disinfect them and the shelving/flooring, and move some orchids inside. And I have to build the temporary greenhouse in the garage for my plumeria. All the tile is down but only 1/3 is grouted in the solarium. I guess I will load that 1/3 space with furniture and perhaps a couple of blooming plumeria, even if I have to move it all out tomorrow when the rest of the grout is supposed to be done. Oh, where is the time to do all this? Crying

Ken, quick, get a roll of that brown paper that painters/contractors use to cover the floors when they are working in your home. It is very heavy and when you put a bit of painters tape here and there it stays in place. Any paint store or the big boxes carries it and it is inexpensive.
It will protect the new tile until that grout cures which should take about a week or two depending on the type used. It is heavy enough that you can move furniture on it with out it tearing. It is even somewhat waterproof, it would not hold up to a lot of water but a splash here or there won't penetrate it.

It was only 53 here today and with a stiff wind, it is COLD.

No, no, no, no, no... Whistling When my friend returns from India and takes her giant Vandas back home, I will have space for my Tamiami purchases (in January). Rolling my eyes. nodding

We try not to put anything except Vandas in the GH, but we make exceptions for the Bonsai plants when it gets bitter cold. Nothing else. Sticking tongue out

Take the furniture out and cover it with tarps. It won't die in the temperature. Even the hardy Catts can't take these lows for any amount of time without seriously stunting the bloom growth for spring. And the baby seedlings don't need to go below 55*F. If an emergency, you can always stuff them in and turn on a heater overnight and then drag them out the next day while you are finishing the cleaning. I did that yesterday while I was organizing.

Ken, you are getting colder temps than I am. Lowest was last night and my area reads 43, all my catts and coel are out and filling their sheafs. I wonder if the blooms will blast now? I took my warm growers in last Thursday.
I'm moving tomorrow including the racks so they will go on my sisters porch for the next few days till I get them. No sun filters thru so maybe they might get colder? I've never left sdly out under 55, I may have cold damage but I'm keeping them dry.

I really don't know what our low was, Bert. The 38 was the prediction. Being in Memphis, you probably are a bit warmer than I, simply because of all your concrete/blacktop in the city. Do you mean you are making THE move to Corinth?

OK, what's a "sdly"? Shrug! Old age, you know. Sighing!
