It's a beauty, Bert. What a nice b'day gift. I give my kids a 'wish list' and let them buy me orchids as gifts usually, too. They always fit and are always perfect.

I'm recalling that Jim got one similar to that not too long ago. I'll bet he knows it.

I think you are close, Ursula. It is in the Oncidium alliance, probably a Degarmoara or Rossioglossum.

Happy birthday from the orchid gang, Bert!

Ursula you are vvvvery close! This is Rossioglossum Aztec Fire. No grande in this cross so it is blooming in July and is temp tolerant. This is R schileperianum x R williamsianum, a much smaller flower, it's about 3in. I also have R Rawdon Jester but knocked the spike off yesterday, this cross is R grande x R williamsianum so a cool x intermediate makes it temp tolerant also. I'll post a filled out Aztec Fire tomorrow here.
I see that they are on ebay right now in spike.
Jim, I knew you would know this!

Beautiful eye candy this morning, Melissa!! Lovey dubby
What are the first blooms with that striking orange lip and what is the next vandaceous plant, with the beautiful, single bloom?

Roberta, so I could even grow the more temps tolerant Rossioglossum Aztec Fire. I did kill a Rawdon Jester years ago, that''s why it looked so familiar…. Hilarious!

The English orchid forums are a good source of culture info, R Rawdon Jester is named after the city of the hybridized and they are called 'Clown Orchids' so they added Jester. These can be larger plants, than my blooming R Aztec Fire, noted for the blooms up to 7-8 in ( they may mean cm). I've just discover the Clown Orchids and I'm trying to soak this up, they are saying repot only when the new growth is about 2 in high because that's when roots start, other wise you may lose the plant. But you know England never gets the sun that I do or the heat, so I think I'll group them with my strap-leaved paph and bring them indoors with 90's temps.
Here she is this morning, very windy here so may be blurry a bit, but you can see this is a 3in pot. My R Rawdon Jester was budded in a 4in pot.

Lovely pictures, Melissa. I really enjoy seeing the pretty spotty Paphs (?) as of course it's next to impossible to grow them down here in FL. I have a couple of plants but will be very surprised if I ever get them to bloom, as I grow all my orchids outdoors, and the warm summer nights are very hard on the cool-lovers.

The beautiful orange/red in the second row looks very familiar too. ?

Wonderful show, Melissa. I would dearly love to know the names that go with those beauties.

Two more new blooms out in the OC. First is Rby. Lime Cooler (Rlc. Memoria Helen Brown x B. nodosa). It used to be a Blc but has now morphed to Rby. through no fault of its own. It is a Krull-Smith hybrid and I bought it from Jim Krull up in Apopka.

Old reliable Bc. Hoku Gem 'Freckles' (C. Tangerine Jewel x Bc. Richard Mueller) is back in bloom again. It seems to like being mounted on tree fern.

I like the Morphing part!!!
And here I thought that happens only with Neofinetia falcata/Fukirans, when one established variegation changes into a different one! Big Grin
Nice ones, Jim. The mounted Hoku Gem looks happy!

Roberta, thanks for the info!

Jim, I remember when you bought that 'Lime Cooler'. Does it have more purple markings on it than it used to? I remember the stripe down the middle but I don't remember so many other markings. Either way, it's lovely!

Thanks, guys. Elaine, here is a picture of Blc. Lime Cooler taken last October. What do you think?

Just gorgeous, Jim, and it definitely has more purple on the lip than before. It must love living in the Orchid Palace. Heck, who wouldn't?

I'll get the names for you. My short term memory is poor since my cancer recovery. (chemo side effect). I have tags and an inventory list, but it is on my other computer.

Off the top of my head, the Den is Den Green Lantern. The red one is Ctna Why Not (I believed reclassified). Mine exhibits the form of the aurantiaca parent.

One is Sedirea japonica (believe it is classified in Phal now). The big red Phal is Phal Crestwood 'Mahogany'.

Let's see, Aerides multiflora, Paph appletonianum, Paph Hawaiian Illusion, Paph Roland (the really white with bellatulum spots). The fatty bellatulum has a really long name.

Ursula, the single bloom on the upper right is a Den species. I'll have to get you the name. It escapes me. The white one was a gift and I'll have to look at the tag.

Melissa, you mentioned having received chemo. Not to get into your business but I do hope you are doing well. If there is anything I can do, please feel free to call on me. I'm a good volunteer, and a retired nurse. Hope to introduce myself at the upcoming meeting this Sunday.
