I always hesitate to post FFO's because it takes awhile for a plant, color, to find its footing. None of my 250 daylilies will start blooming for several more weeks. We are about 10 days late for blooms compared to last summer. So my July, August and September will be filled with blooms/reblooms. The 2 blooms that I show now are new to my garden in May, curtesy of Michele. They both came with scapes. Thanks Michele.
At least I get a chance to see them bloom this year. But they are FFO's and will change as the season progresses.
Red Ragamuffin - FFO
(As the temps get hotter, expected 90 degs. on Tuesday, I expect teeth will appear along the yellow edge)
Icicles (FFO)
Only 4" in size right now, Icicles needs some time to grow into it's normal size and lovely edge.
Now here's what has me excited. On almost every daylily in my garden, I am seeing scapes that have exceeded anything I have ever seen before here. Scapes are between 1/2" to almost 1" round in size. It's remarkable to see. The only thing I did differently this year was all 250 plants received a good dose of alfalfa meal slightly dug into the soil around each plant.
Also, all the plants are huge this year, lush and very green. I have included a few pictures here for you to see for yourself.
