Been away a while, but really, really enjoyed all the entries just perused.

Yellow Figbird. The male is yellow - the females are streaked with a blue eye ring.





These are a north Queensland subspecies.

Mine are different. The male is green. They love Mock Orange fruit and spread it through out the land in their poo. The bush is now listed as invasive. I just love the perfume (of the bush, that is).

I was outside last night and got a few photos. It was really nice out with a little breeze so not too hot. I missed getting a photo of an Eastern Phoebe that came twice because I did not have the camera at that time!

You are lucky to have the Orioles during breeding time Claudia. Well, knock me over with a feather! TWO male hummies & they aren't fighting????!!!!!

I love having the orioles here during the summer. I was out and had a daddy bringing in babies this afternoon! The male hummers did do a little dancing but them both landed on the feeder. I was shocked too and really hoping I got the pic!!

Claudia, Wonderful shots! I envy you getting those pretty Orioles, hope you are able to get pic's of a baby to post! Love the hummingbirds ... and wow two males at the feeder together! Cute little juvie Bluebird, love that sweet face!

We have orioles in the area, and occasionally see one, we can't seem to attract them even with fruit or better feeders. Mostly the way we know they were even here is finding their net in the fall. We have spied them when canoeing on our local creek but they remain elusive.

Thanks Ric!! That is our little guy Gus. He is a very special one of a kind dog that has a since of humor! I got pics of the juvie orioles and juvie red-bellied I have to download in a bit.

I just went out to my daylily garden to take some pictures, and got dive-bombed by a group of tree swallows! I've been trying to get a good picture of them, and even though I had a camera in my hand, I didn't even think to take a picture! I was more worried about getting a bird stuck in my hair! Apparently they like the houses I put up for them in the garden, and didn't want me in "their" yard!

Natalie: I bet those swallows have babies in the nest boxes and are perhaps protecting their nestlings.
