BTW Cinta, would you believe that my succulent containers stayed outside all winter, except for those couple of snowy/icy days? I brought them into the garage then, but they're back outside on my stoop, which has an oversized roof overhang. nodding Thanks for giving me in incentive to try that. I don't know what I would have done otherwise. The garage is full and only has 2 northeast facing windows. It's difficult to get around in there and not scratch the cars up. They are both new. DH will have a fit, if that happens. Rolling my eyes.

Debbie, I thought they would survive. I did not have to bring mine inside until late Jan this year. We had a very mild winter. I have mine on a open patio, when the temps were low 20s I put a blanket over them. When we got the snow and temps in the teens I caved and brought them inside the sunroom.

I should be able to start shipping your plants late March, early April.

This is the latest one I have started, the baked enamel pot was purchased at the dump restore for a dollar and already had the holes drilled on the bottom

The next two are just for fun

Thanks, they used to sell those self watering pots (frog and toads homes, lol) at one of our mega supermarkets. I wish I had bought many more because the little croakers do love them

We moved to Houston last March. I put a large pot with flowers on the patio, which happened to be right outside our bedroom window. I watered it pretty often. After about a week, I started hearing this strange chirp when I was in bed. I even told my husband that I wondered if the smoke alarm was going out! Then one day when I was watering the pot of flowers, this little green frog hopped out from inside the plants and started making that chirping sound. Mystery solved!

He's already back, because I just heard him the other day. Made me smile. Smiling

Hi everyone! I hope I'm in the right forum.. I would like to replicate, in miniature, the ancient Latte Stone structures from our culture to use as planters.
Thumb of 2016-03-21/Rainbow/0aa675
Thumb of 2016-03-21/Rainbow/4c4d5a

I had been scratching my head during this past year on how to go about making faux latte stones to use as planters. I had thought of hypertufa and cement forms, but these are too heavy, and would also require reinforcement within to hold the form.

Then a light bulb came on the other day...why not take a wide shallow plastic plant bowl and place the base on top of an overturned 3 or 5 gal. plant pot (bottom cut out) and texturize/paint the parts to look like stone.

So...any ideas on how to create the faux latte stone planters, i.e., texturizing and paint materials, would be very much appreciated. Big Grin
