I agree I have one of these in one of my pots, about the same age as yours Pia but I don't think it is as big as yours.

That is really nice Pia. The Jades are good candidates for that project. We should maybe have a bonsai forum.

I am trying to make a Forsythia bonsai. I saw this one years ago and thought it would be great to have one on the patio in the spring.

Great idea Cinta, I think most of the bonsai post is miniature garden but I don't recall Bonsai thread or forum.

That is a portion of a larger troth.
I honestly dont know much about what I am doing.
I planted the troth last summer. Some of the semps died so I transplanted from a disolving nest type planter. I am just letting semps and sedum fill in.

The process you described is exactly what I do with my containers. To me it makes sense since the goal is to fill containers with plants. So when a container planting "dissolves" , the surviving plants go into another container that could use the extra plants and the empty container becomes the next one to fill with more plants. It's part of the evolution of container planting as I see it... nodding So I think you DO know what you're doing!!

I bought a twig wreath years ago. Put it on the ground and used screening as a liner. I filled it with rock garden mix and planted it with sedums, and semps.
It took 3 seasons to disintegrate. I had a few semp losses and the weeds were growing thru the twigs so it was becoming impossible to keep in shape.
I moved the remaining semps a few months ago. I was so sad when the Blue semp didnt make it last winter.

I have a lot of blooms from the annual seeds I threw in the pots in March.

Although this Dahalia is gorgeous this is the first bloom and if we were having our usual Fall it would not be blooming because of the cold. I have hop over to the Dahalia forum and find out if next year I need to give it more sun or fert. One bloom is not worth wasting pot space. These things take up a lot of space.

Lynn, They go in the back of the laundry room. I do not take them out of the pots. It is where all my patio tropical plants live for the winter.
