The last 2 days, the Northeast was pounded with heavy rainfall. Several inches fell in a very short time, while really reducing temperatures. Talk about EMO's, tomorrow morning will be in the high 40's, low 50's. And this is JULY???? Coolest summer in years. As a result of all the rain in past few days, I lost a sdlg. that looks very promising to me. No fair, I say. This sdlg. was planted only last July, and really is a baby( 18 mos. old). It had 1 bud on the sdlg, and that sdlg. bloomed yesterday in a drenching rainstorm. My luck. I will have to wait another year to see what I missed. So frustrating!!! Here's the only picture I could get yesterday morning of this drenched single bloom.

Sdlg. #10 of the summer of 2014

Sdlg. Ruby Lipstick X Barbara Burkhart -

I have no idea what the self color is, was, or will be, but the eye pattern looks intriguing. At least 6" bloom or larger. I will have to wait another year to find out all the specs.. Yikes! Grumbling

Oh Alex, what a bummer! Yesterday was so frustrating, blooms were finally open that I had been waiting to cross and the rain.. just kept coming. But Oh Wow that #14 from today is awesome! Hurray!
Those Annette's Magic kids are really pretty. Have you had any trouble with Wonder of it All kids hanging up Ed? With our normal cool mornings I was reluctant to use it but did a few crosses just to see... a no go, every one needs me to unzip it to see what it looks like.

Found a few more pattern images, first is a 2010 sdlg I've been working with, second is a step forward in getting a patterned red.

Very nice Fred, may have to get Kim a piece of (or pollen from) that double UF to go on a few of her seedlings next year.

So I finished planting seeds (I hope) yesterday and planted a few more than planned because I planted some of the ones I planned to sell Whistling I still have some more pods to pick and try and resist planting them but you never know.
Anyway, I ended up with 42 (YES 42) seed trays that have 72 holes each. There are a few that I had to skip a hole or two because they were cracked all the way down so I have roughly 3000 seeds plants Blinking I am going to have to build a couple more 200' beds to hold them all. I am going to plant them in 1 gallon pots this year (last year was the ones one size smaller than the 1 gal which was too small). If I had room I would plant the seedlings in 2 gal pots but that takes a lot of pine bark and room. Of course some will not sprout I'm sure but knowing my luck every single one of them will Hilarious!

The double has really surprised me, its only had one single bloom and blooms almost everyday. Will see what it does next year.

I have been planting seed myself and will plant the last of them this weekend. I only want to plant 1600, half of what Michele wants to plant, but she's half my age. I have two beds cleaned and ready for the pine bark, lime and fertilizer to be added and tilled.

I have lots of those trays if you need some more, most of the new ones we got have never been used.

Yesterday I cleaned out the bed to right also the two beds will hold 1600 seedlings.

I will NOT plant that many next year, it is wayyyyy too many for me. Really if you divide the 3000 in half I only planted 1500 for me and Kim did 1500 Whistling Anyway it really is too many for us. Next year I will mainly be setting seed on the seedlings with a few named cultivar crosses
