Willow water is okay, so is honey but rooting hormone is fairly cheap and works way better. What type of willow did you root?

I believe that it is a yellow willow though I could be mistaken.

I have some of the rooting hormone on a wish list, but haven't yet purchased any. Even if the willow water works well, it isn't very clear to me if it will work for a wide range of plants or if it favors woody plants.

I can send you some rooting hormone if you want some. I get Hormodin #3 its strickly for wood plants and Ill be happy to send you enough to do about 50 cuttings. Shoot me a tree mail if you want some.

@ediblelandscapingsc Daniel is your rooting hormone adequate for rooting semi hardwood rose cuttings? Is it sold in powder form? TYiA.

Yes you can root roses with Hormodin #3 but they root so easy you wouldn't need #3 which is more expensive. Instead you could go with Hormodin #1 or a basic cheap one at your local store. The #3 is more for hard to root cuttings. It is a powder, I have used several gels in the past and if you want the best of the best Dutchmaster Gold rooting gel is the best hormone I have ever used but is super pricy and hard to find.

Thank you Daniel, I'll start searching what is available here in the stores.I've never been able to successfully get cuttings to root and by now I'm sure its the poor quality rooting powder that I get locally.( I've been told so by fellow rose gardeners here) Yes it may be cheap but worthless... Sighing!

CloneX and dip and grow are about the same. I agree they work well and are a must for anyone using a cloning machine like you Clint. The only difference in them and DM Gold is DM Gold removes any oxygen that enters the cutting.

I'm currently propagating my hoya carnosa I got from Walmart, it's been a month now. I cut off all or most of the green leaves and propagated them in a pot of soil in a Ziploc bag. I hear that you can only propagate them by sticking nodes in the soil, which I didn't do. I did cut them really close to the roots, though. It looks promising, the plant has really perked up. I think I will properly check on it in another month. Smiling

I ordered a 'Dream Catcher' Hibiscus about a month ago. It had some broken limbs during shipping. Here is one of them that I just potted up today. I have another one to pot today too.

I am propagating 3 plants (for the first time ever) – Schefflera Amate, a Dracanea (not sure what exact kind) and Murraya koenigii (curry leaf).

I have used cuttings for all of them, and definitely had success with the Dracanea (so easy, just plop them in the soil, new growth in 4 weeks), one of the Amate (one got mold because of high humidity inside the plastic bottle and not sure if it will survive, let us see) and I have no idea how the curry leaf is going to do since its been only 2 weeks, and I am trying from store bought cuttings!

I did use a root hormone on all of them. Thank You! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

I have the Cuban oregano that needs pruning - so how should I propagate these from their cuttings? I tried before but the stem got mushy and didn't make it.

Three of the variegated hibiscus cuttings have rooted and several of the rangoon creeper, my first time rooting from cuttings, have also rooted.

Took several cuttings of the alternanthera 'little ruby' before the cold came and also some cuttings of coleus. Hopefully I will have success in a few months.

I have an oregano that I thought was Italian, and someone else says it's cuban, and it roots a little in water or just stuck in soft moist dirt but it really likes some moisture in its dirt. Right hand side of the photo, variegated, huge, this is before I cut it back. I tried to dry as a seasoning but the leaves have so much water and so little texture, it has the smell of oregano, but going have to agree with someone's advice (who said it was cuban) probably not to cook with it.

I've got several walking iris rooting I water; many have small roots now.

I finally cut down my tall lanky lucky bamboo and have it in water.

My neighbor gave me a long cutting of his grandmother's Hoya. I was able to get 4 rooted and potted up. One is now a foot long Hurray!

MARCGRAVIA! Took a cutting and mounted it to a moss board...my goal is to get this going up a tree of a very tall mount in the greenhouse this growing season and try to get it to the point that it blooms. This is a juvenile...to bloom it has to get huge and the leaves are totally different from the juvenile shingles here

Nepenthes alata. The mother plant was several feet long and had a wasp nest in it when I needed to move it inside in the fall so I decided to take cuttings and discard it. I have rooted this plant before and it is slow to root. I have three cuttings in water in a warm bright place and three that I dipped in rooting hormone and put in potting soil. Those cuttings are in a plastic bag in my greenhouse. I have not checked them recently and I need to do that.
