Hopefully we will get that 2=3 inches of rain Tues/Weds. Muddsy, I think my Japanese maples are shedding leaves for want of water ! as they are curling up before dropping.

Sure do need the rain. Leaves I am raking are bone dry, compost is going to be hard to get going. I should have let Mark mow them up. D'Oh!
Plant it and they will come.

I see ten more nearly frost free days in my forecast. Yay for my lettuce.
Plant it and they will come.

Mariposa, one of my Japanese Maples also has brown, dried-up curled leaves this year. They started doing that months ago, and I was worried that it was diseased, but after googling I decided that the problem was sunburn caused by extreme heat.

Sally, I thought dry, crunchy leaves composted more quickly than wet ones Confused

Checked my Japanese maple, yup, all curled.

Well, Muddy, I feel they need to moisten before they can decay. The sycamore ones sure do crunch when I stomp them, so I hope they're mostly in bits.
Plant it and they will come.

Sure hope we get substantial rain later this week. Well-hydrated plants are much less prone to winter kill than those that are desiccated. Its a real drag watering this time of year in the cold and wind.

I'm hoping for a real rain too. It's a pain having to shut the water off, then turn it on again, etc.

Mariposa, maybe I haven't looked at the right weather sites, but I don't think my area is expected to get 2-3" of rain. I hope I'm wrong!

I see now rain forecast has dropped down to a little over an inch starting late tonite through Wed. Sighing!
We are down 2-3 inches for the month and some parts of MD are already in drought.

Maybe Wayne will pre water some areas so at least what we do get will soak in better.
I'm hoping to use the warmer time between rain showers to get some more plants winterized and 100 daffs planted.

I am wearing 5 layers, wool socks and a hat and I am cold! Hope my body thermostat adjusts soon. Just not generating as much body heat as usual. Wonder what I can eat to stoke the fires?

Had another freeze last night.
Plant it and they will come.

We got 1.03" yesterday and hopefully another 0.5" will come today. Before yesterday it hadn't rained in 20 days.

We are expecting rain again but we already had enough rain yesterday to get everything squishy soaked. All the trees and shrubs and all still have drops of rain now and are all wet still.

We got about .6 inches between yesterday and today. I kinda wish that was a 6.0 though!

Two days and nights of steady rain here. Finally it is sunny today so it should dry out some. Things were a soggy mess.
