I don't care for whole cherry tomatoes. I'll eat them when they are cut up but I get grossed out eating the whole ones. I know, it's in my head, I have food issues! However, I grow one plant every year because my husband eats them and I enjoy the satisfaction of having so much production from one little plant. Almost every day there is a handful of ripe ones to take in.

LOL! The teeny ones are easier to eat whole than the larger ones. I kinda know what you mean.

This August sun and heat is killer. My kale sprouts drooped, have to go check to make sure I resolved that!

I don't mind, I just eat them but do slice in half if I am adding to a salad.

I love popping them in my mouth whole and biting down and having all that sweet goodness squirt out! Smiling

My DD does not like tomatoes. She doesn't like their texture. She's okay with them pureed in sauces or salsa, but if she can detect their tiny pieces, she will pick them out.

My neighbors daughter refuses to eat fresh tomatoes also. But she loves Pizza and stuff like that. I can't imagine not loving the taste of fresh tomatoes.

Picked a small batch of tomatoes, fulled up a dinner sized plate with the picked ones. No cherry types picked today, just slicers. The cherry types are still going strong but the bigger "regular" tomatoes are really slowing down. Still I usually get tomatoes thru September and have plenty of green tomatoes on my plants.

So I have enough for me to eat. This past week I still picked lots to share with neighbors and friends. But I might be done with that for this year. We will see. Well, do have those cherry types going strong.

Rita, do you let the last green ones ripen off the vine, when the weather gets cold? I used to do that and got a lot more tomatoes that way.

Never works for me. I use some for fried green tomatoes and the smaller hard ones I just throw away.

Ah. Well, they do have to be mature, just still green. That might be the problem. But maybe by then you are all tomatoed out anyway.

I used to freeze tomatoes, too, at the end of seasons when I had too many to eat before they rotted.

I have read about freezing whole tomatoes but have never tried it. I do make my own stewed tomatoes, which I just do in my crockpot. Then I just freeze those. I used to cook down sauce years ago but these days just don't bother.

we're still picking veggies! our heirloom tomatoes were amazing this season. We still have so many green tomatoes and blooms on the vines.

I used up 3 Turkish eggplants (they are super small, like little golfball-sized pumpkins) in our quinoa last night.

So, I think I may have managed to hit the window for starting my kale on time! The plants are all looking perky and growing right along -- maybe I'll take a picture tomorrow.

Also wondering when to sow my garlic. The calendar here says September, but the vendor (Seed Savers, who have good information usually) says it is best after first frost.

Anyway, I didn't want to sow in September because it really was still too warm here. But I don't think I'm going to wait until frost, either. I think maybe one day next week would be good. Split the difference. That's always a good gardening rule of thumb, right?

Thumbs up nodding

Hilarious!

is there any chance it would start sprouting if you sowed it now?

It might! I think it needs to be sown in cool soil. I have grown it before but in an entirely different terrain and climate, and don't remember a lot about when I planted it even so, just that it was early fall.
