This year I am growing three yellow varieties (yellow when ripe). First is Sunsugar. A cherry tomato and the best tasting tomato in the garden. Yumm, so sweet.

I grew Sungold for years but tried Sunsugar this year and it is even better than Sungold.

Then I am also growing Yellow Pear. Small tomatoes the size of cherry tomatoes. I didn't realize they would be so small. Don't like them as they taste bland to me and split from all the rain.

Last yellow is a regular sized tomato, one of my Wild Boar Varieties called Pork Chop. Tried one, was nice but had a taste of acid to me. Will not plant it again. I prefer the orange or pink or red ones they have. all stripped.

There is quite a variety of shapes and sizes and colors and tastes. This is the most diversity I have ever had in one season.

Ones I don't have are any green when ripe types. I could never give away away green when ripe types so would be a waste of space. Red is always popular and so are pink tomatoes.

I have many swirled colors this year also.

We have farm stands and farm markets everywhere. Pick your own farms too...just next door is a peach field...across the road is acres of all sorts of veggies and flowers....that is why I love it here. We can grow anything and everything. The call the produce we grow "Jersey Fresh"....love it. They also will not allow the farmers markets to ship in stuff and use the Jersey Fresh signs on it. They have inspectors that go around to be sure. Produce is a real business here for sure.

I would love to plan a field trip to JB's farm, and another one to Rita's tomato patch!

Oh well, I have 3 tomato plants (given to me by Gardadore (Jessica), 1 thornless blackberry bush from a swap, 1 pink lemonade blueberry bush, 5 strawberry and 5 pineapple strawberry bushes. I have one of those tiered pots that I grow arugula in. Never can find the bunched kind in the store.....only those tasteless leaves in the bags. I have pots of dill, rosemary, sage, parsley, cilantro, basil and chives on the deck. This is all I can manage along with the 9 beds filled with perennials and bushes. Can't keep up with the likes of you!!!!

You should plan a field trip in December when we are open week ends and selling our trees. Families come from several states to have an 'Old Fashion Christmas'...cookies, hot chocolate, cut their own trees and just share the blessings of the holiday season with us. Same people come every year plus new faces who hear about us online or by word of mouth. We do very little advertising but we are on facebook as RoblynFarm. I keep that up and show our plants, etc. year round. Please feel free to visit us anytime.

Not advertising, just sharing some of the pictures of what we grow.

JB, I can relate to your customers. We have been choosing and cutting our Christmas trees for 8 years, as long as my husband and I have been married. I can't imagine giving up the tradition.

Returning to the topic of the thread, I only have a few store bought tomatoes this year but my favorite from seed is 'Cour di bou'. I'm probably wrong on the spelling, I'll look it up later. It's a beautiful heart-shaped Italian heirloom. I just don't have much success with, or use for most other vegetables! One day when I have a homestead, I'll try again, but right now my yard is too small for anything but beautiful flowers!

I have only a few vegetable/fruit plants--it's a new venture for me away from flowers and into edibles! Smiling I've had a lot of herbs all along, but that's more for companion planting than for harvesting--plus I love the smell of herbs in the garden! :-)

I have one of each:
--Phaseolus vulgaris
--Strawberry plant
--Cucumber plant
--Watermelon plant
--Tomato plant

So far, I've gotten a few nice strawberries and several nice string beans. No cukes or watermelon yet. @Aspenhill, what is that terrific Tomato Sauce recipe that @Critterologist wrote about?

That sounds like a very nice selection, Roses! How do you like the Pink lemonade blueberry and Pineapple strawberry bushes? I have not heard of these varieties before and they sound cool! What is their flavor like?

I really love growing herbs, too.

That sounds really nice, @TypWC! I've always wondered how different tomato varieties vary in their flavor? For virtually all my life I've only known store bought tomatoes, which are pretty tasteless. On a few occasions I've had the opportunity to sample freshly grown ones and they are delicious, but I know little about how different ones taste--or even what kinds of different tomato varieties exist! Sounds like I will have a wonderful opportunity to learn more on this thread! Thumbs up
