Good luck.
I sent Mark out to a local nursery for the last three amaryllis bulbs. Could not resist at half price, the ladies at the library really liked the one I did last year.
Plant it and they will come.

I gave Mom 5 of the Amaryllis from last year that I planted in the garden this past summer. All 5 bulbs are putting up flower buds. So excited to see this. I planted all 5 of them in a big blue pot 4 of them look like they could possibly bloom at the same time. Boy wouldn't that be a beautiful display. Will post picks when they start blooming.

Those amaryllis bulbs are so hard to resists when 50% off, especially when they're growing out of their boxes!

One of the giant ones I got from the group by this year is about to open. Holly, that's going to be quite a display.

Maybe this summer will be the summer, I treat my amaryllis bulbs right, and plant them in really good dirt in the vegetable garden. Oh, I better check on the one or two I might have boxed downstairs.
Plant it and they will come.

I ended up pruning out the really bad parts of the begonia and drenching the rest of it with the alcohol/soap mixture. Wow, the insect infestation was really bad! Half of the plant was so sticky that the leaves kept sticking to my hands and the pruner. Thumbs down Blinking Yuck!

Thanks, Catmint! I need to buy some neem oil as well. I need to look up and reread tapla's comment about neem oil. There was so much good information there!

This amaryllis has been blooming for at least a week. It's right by the back door which we've been using a lot as several furnace/AC estimators have needed to access it.

Today, DH asks when it started blooming. Blinking He really doesn't notice anything!

DD's like that too when it comes to my gardening pastimes. Big Grin

Is that Appleblossom, SSG?
Mine just bloomed yesterday!
Very pretty--I love the delicate, pink and white swirls.

Really need to start using the camera that my SIL passed on to me...

Non gardeners- what ya gonna do with em??

My amaryllis just got potted a week ago, still buds or nothing.

the Cordyline Red Star spike plants are perfectly content as houseplant for winter- (knock on wood) that was an experiment for me. I pulled them from big pots outside in fall.

I still don't have A favorite houseplant to name.
Plant it and they will come.

I need to get Aphrodite next year!

well, I guess my favorite houseplant is Amaryllis--it's the only one I keep in the house, and only in the winter time! Too little space, too many cats... Sticking tongue out

beautiful Phal, Lisa. I was actually tempted by the grocery store ones today- such big healthy looking leaves. They had a couple Amaryllis at 2.98! Potted and just begun to bloom. Maybe they were getting rid of Christmas leftovers.
Plant it and they will come.

My favorite houseplant right now is the calamondin orange.

DH bumped into it today and asked me if it was a tomato plant. Blinking You have to excuse my non-gardening, color-blind DH. Big Grin

I had him taste one of the ripe oranges and he loved it! They're delicious but too tart for me to eat straight.

When you have a SO who grumbles about the houseplants taking up too much space, it's good to have one that literally amazes him!

SSG I will have to look up your calamondin orange love to see a pic of it.

So here are some Amaryllis pic. There are 5 bulbs planted in the blue pot. These are Am's that I grew over the summer in the garden. All five bulbs are going to bloom. This pot is at my Mom's house this is what it looked like when I was there on Sat. She called and told me another flower had opened and it is white with pink strips and layers of petals. This was the first time that I tried to keep Am bulbs and grow them over the summer. I will def try this again. The smaller bulb in the glass jar is a new bulb from this year. It is very pretty should have got a close up of that but I was just so excited about the old bulbs that I didn't really think about it.

ssg- I read about calamondin, when I was reading about pancit recipes. One thing I read said calamondin was maybe the best indoor citrus to grow.
I have a lemon, that I grew from a seed from a friend's Meyer. This was the only seedling out of five that had no thorns. I still haven't had a fruit to see how true it is.

Holly, ya done right good there! ! I envy the wide windowsill Green Grin!

That is my Mom's wide window sill and it looks out at their bird feeders.
Hey did you happen to notice her huge Christmas Cactus in the corner of the pic I should have gotten a pic of that while I was there.
Those plants are a good 2ft tall from soil level.
