Dear all, I was not looking forward to going shopping today with my mother as she tends to overload me with things to carry in my rucksack for her. However apart from the overloading as she thinks I am a Camel, she did buy Sarah some nice stuff in the pound shop. Everything is a pound or under, oh what fun!
All these plants for 50p or two lots for 90 p, so more for me to do for Sarah's border! So I started with 6 mixed Lupins 90p, same with the Eryngium planum or sea holly, then 30 cornliles, 15 Allium species. Looking around a stroke of luck, for I have an area which is but small that some plants do not like as I have a feeling the soil is cream crackered. Spotted some lucky clover Oxalis deppe ' Iron Cross'. Perfect, let it grow and flower and then dig it in, as it fixes nitrogen in the soil and is a green manure. What a result as you get 60 for 90p. So plant 30 dig them in and then the next 30! let us see if that works, I think it will, hopefully!
Plus of course Sarah got some chocolate, which does upset me having to carry that disgusting stuff.
I got something as well, a bad back, how nice.
Regards.
Neil.

Well done on your bargains for the garden Neil, great fun when you can get things not even a 1/4 of some nurseries.

All we have here is snow. Couple new inches last night and flurries at the moment.

I still have a 2½ foo drift over a spot I think I have planted with a couple hellebores. Pretty sure anyway.............They'll never get unburied enough to even think about blooming.

Neil, love your Spring photos--- so pretty! I can't find much prettiness in my yard yet--- too much froze, and what didn't doesn't want to 'come out of its hibernation' or something! Of course, I don't have any bulbs planted, so nothing like that is springing up! I think I need to go to the plant nursey this week to see some Spring flowers... maybe buy something new, since my plants are being stubborn.
Cherie, more Snow?? Still??! I tell you one thing... when we went to Chicago & the Great Lakes a few weeks ago, I never saw so much Snow in my Life!! If someone had blindfolded me & set me down there, removed the bandana... I would've thought they'd flown me to Alaska! Didn't see Any Green there, unless it was Evergreen trees or shrubs... covered with snow usually. Group hug

The snow is down enough so John can cut the side branches off the big pine branches which came don in Jan. The end of the bigger one is 4 & 1/2". Naturely he will do it bit by bit. Daffodills showing near our stone wall, although there is still snow between them and the street.

Only 28°F so far this mnorning. Snow is trying to disappear, but not finished with that as yet. John managed to get the trench where we pur our iris seed boxes cleared enough to more the boxes into it. Wire screen top over the trench keeps birds & furry seed eaters out. The snow has moved far enough away from most of the wall to let daffodils begin to apear. A couple places where there are still snow piles from the road plows are still underneath snow.

What melting we had has been replaced with fresh heavy, wet, slushy snow. So much for being south of !-94 and getting just rain.
