that's a nice one Jan, You'll like it! Grows a bit slow here, but is nice.

I'll be digging a fairly large clump of Tiger Honey, and most of it will be up for grabs, as well...

Really like Crooked Little Smile. Mary Ann is beating me to the punch lately - Gerry Atwell, Brick, Crooked....... hmmmm. I can wait until next year though if there is a running wish list to add myself to!

Montmarte doesn't grow really fast for me either, but it does bloom every year, and it stands out in the garden. Even in pictures where it is in the background, it draws the eye.

Arlyn,
I'd love to have a Tiger Honey.

Leslie & Mary Ann,
I have enough to send one to each of you...but I'm new at this, so I need to know whether this is a good tome to send them in your climates, and how to handle the shipping costs...since I'm cash poor right now. I would also be willing to do trades if there is anything you are wanting to thin out.

I'm having fun...I just finished listing my irises on the plant list. It's fun to see them all there together. It took quite a while, and there are a lot of other things I probably should have been doing Whistling ...but it feels great to have it done! Hurray!

I'm wondering...does anyone have a Red Masterpiece they could share? I'm hoping to test a noid from a big box store (the first iris I bought). I wasn't able to get a great picture this year, here the best I could do:

On another note:
I might be able to part with a Fine Wine or a Chocolate Ecstasy in trade for something fun. Unfortunately it will be a year or two before I am rhizome rich enough to just go shipping off boxes or 20 irises on a whim Shrug! but I'd like to get to that point! nodding nodding

OK -- needed to get that message out there fast! Green Grin! Omigosh Marilyn -- you're offering a few really nice Irises. I'm excited to be getting them.

To answer your questions: First of all, the person who is providing the Irises should be paid the postage expenses in advance. This can be done by check, money order, or Paypal. This would be agreed upon between the parties involved. Generally it works out best for the Irises to be shipped in a flat-rate box via the post office -- so the shipping expenses are standard -- $5.85 for the small flat-rate, $12.35 for medium I think, and $17.35 for large. When shipping just a few rhizomes, usually they will fit in a small flat-rate. If the parties involved are swapping rhizomes, then no money changes hands -- each party just ships the agreed-upon flat-rate box -- unless one party ships a small box and the other party ships a medium or large. In that case, the person receiving the more expensive box would reimburse for the different in shipping expense. Still with me?

So. If you were to ship me three rhizomes -- English Charm, Crooked Little Smile and Chocolate Ecstasy -- they would likely fit in a small flat-rate box, and I would owe you $5.85 in advance of shipment. If we decide to swap, however, I would ship you three rhizomes in exchange for you shipping me three rhizomes.

Re: Red Masterpiece. I'm sorry -- I don't have any of that one. I have quite a few reds, but not that one. Sad

However -- I do have lots of Irises and can easily share some of them. I'm going to go look at your list and see what you've got and then come up with varieties for you to choose from.

And Leslie and I are probably in the same position -- now is a great time to be planting Iris!!!

Well holy cow -- you have a LOT of Irises!! And it's amazing to me how many we have alike. Which means that you have very good taste!!! Rolling on the floor laughing

I will peruse my Iris beds tomorrow and come up with a list of Irises that I have that need to be thinned -- and which are not on your list -- and send you a private tree-mail letting you know. OK with you?

Sound great Mary Ann! I'm looking forward to seeing your list! Drooling I guess I'm in a kind of greedy stage. Just the thought of adding irises get me smiling! Big Grin Big Grin Does it ever get better or is this just the way it will be now that I have become an irisaholic?

Linnea,

It's very kind of you to offer the rhizomes. I am interested in the Blue Moon Siberians, but I don't know anything about how to grow them. What kind of conditions do they need? Our summers are very hot and my soil is sand (which I amend...but it's mostly sand) so I don't know how well they would grow here.

I think I'll hold off on Fabian, I'm afraid if I get started on the historics I'll really go crazy. I need to focus on getting my modern TB's planted and happy. Maybe in a couple years I'll be ready to start a patch of the historics!

I appreciate your generosity! Thank You!

Well this is what happens when I babysit all day, then have a rehearsal... All the good stuff gets gone before I have a chance to check up on you guys.. 'English Charm' has been on my list for a long time... I keep overlooking it for more glittery things (like Montmartre, for example).. And 'Crooked Little Smile' looks great, as does anything with chocolate in it Smiling

Marilyn, I'd be happy to send you some Historics.. Hilarious!

Someone posted a yellow and white TB recently that had smile in the name... It looked like a big smile on the falls.. Anyone recall which one that was? I was sure I'd remember the name Rolling my eyes.

Sherry, I have Crooked Little Smile, and I'll check if I have any to spare. I think I sold/traded a bunch of it this year, so not sure what's left, might be a small one, but if you want one, I'll send it if I have one extra. If not, I think they are pretty cheap now, and Van Leire from Iris 4 U would always have them.. He's really great to work with, reasonable prices, sends nice clumps and lots of bonuses.

I think the yellow one you are talking about is All Smiles, a Sutton iris. It's one of those that I've wanted for a while, and am trying to get from the Texas sale. I have my fingers crossed! Hilarious!

Marilyn, Your need for more and pretty iris will only get more desperate, like a crack head, you will need more and more to keep you satisfied, until you have no lawn left, or like Arlyn, you buy up empty lots to make room for more of them!!! Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Hold on to your hat, you're in for the ride of your life! And we'll all be there together to see the pictures when they bloom! Also to incourage you to buy more, and more!
