I limited myself to my space agers. No $1 bucks in my order, but maybe a Hester hybrid thrown in....

I went to Lowe's today. There were 6 different color iris, supposedly including Immortality, Clarance, Golden Harvest and I forgot the others. The rhizomes were chunky, some with 3 sorta dried up fans. There were some dried brown botches, that I would have put my paring knife to, but overall, good enough. If they had been reasonably priced, I would have taken my chances on Big Box NOIDs. But, they were $7.98 each!

I got 8 Ice Follies Daffodil bulbs for $3.98 and 4 African Violet NOIDs (but all Optimara - easy to ID when they bloom) for $1 each.

I also picked up a few detached leaves. Those are all started in little pots. Gotta love good trash.

Phillipb2,

I love a challenge...so I did a little poking around and I have another iris for you to consider for your red noid. It's called Scarlet O'Harlett. Here is a copy of a photo from Nola's Iris garden (who is still accepting orders...for those of you who can still be tempted).

Thumb of 2014-09-02/Moiris/c80eb7

The thing that caught my eye is the color of the ribs on the standards. Some sites have photos that show a much darker red, but this one and the one at Blue J Iris show the lighter red.

Good Luck! Smiling

Marilyn,
That looks very nice, thank you for letting me know about Nola's, and I'll let you know if I place an order.

I got an e-mail from her a while back, and I think they are having some kind of sale right now too. I stopped getting iris from her, mostly because of the small rhizomes, but also I've been getting more new intros, and I'm not too impressed so far with what she has.

Not me. I am not getting more Confused I am "facilitating" . Whistling

Actually, I am pulling a modified "tveguy3" Tom move. He sent me a replacement for "Blueberry Bliss" soon after it bit the dust. I had it all of like two months and it never bloomed for me (obviously). That sooo nice of him.

Sooooooo.........I decided to "pay it forward".

Who is this?

John Wayne has left the building?

I dunno.... Blinking Nola's is pretty tempting. I really like Altruist, Concertina, Triffid and always a bunch of white ones. Triffid has 9 children....maybe a good one to have.

I am honing in on African Violets. Gotta do something in the winter in Maine.

I am in trouble I am afraid because I am the Dukie. I guessed as much with the turning blue, but the "Devil in the details" made it certain.

It was too obvious in know.

There are 20 cultivars in the box. One is "Again & Again" which is technically a replacement with 19 new ones. Again and Again has like three small rhizomes and one "massive" rhizome. Package due to arrive today!!!!!

Yay! Again & Again will again be in my garden! Today? Thank heavens my porch is in the shade because otherwise those rhizomes would be a bit toasty when I get home. It is going to be in the mid 90's with lots of humidity. You might say the recently planted iris are going through trial by fire (but all are growing!).

BTW Greg - that large rhizome you sent me of Green & Gifted is growing like wildfire. Looks good to bloom next spring! Hurray!
