Nice big box of iris was waiting for me when I got back from the barn today! Some absolutely huge rhizomes with lots of new increases. Three bonuses included - Room For Romance, Heaven and Earth and Juke Box Hero. All currently soaking in a bucket and will be potted late this evening.

Guess I need to re-do the final tally.....

Nice and large rhizomes! I'm worried a little about 'Teenybopper', it's a little soft when I squeezed it. Maybe a good soak is all it needs. The bonuses were Brilliant Idea, Easter Candy and Swoosh!

Bonnie... my daughter says the same about me... Who knew Mom had so many syllables?

I did the happy box dance too, although I never the our mail carrier... well except for the time I threw a handful of mail at her trying to get her to stop I had a couple that had some questionable looking spots too.. I scraped the goo out and gave everyone a good dip and a rinse. They're all potted, labeled, and entered into my database... Where did the day go?

What's up with iris folks shipping goo?

I think that it was there but too small to see and they shipped and it has grown. One thing to look for is if a rhizome has been cut in two or 'trimmed'. That usually means they needed to cut something out.

I'm sure Robin and Linda did not knowingly send irises with rot. They did have nearly 700 rhizomes to pack up in a short period of time. I imagine it's like Bonnie said. The rhizomes came from commercial growers, and the assumption was that they were healthy. I hope the extras they included will make up for any damaged rhizomes.

The rhizomes are great and the extras were wonderful. Y'all did a great job. I can't imagine shipping nearly 700 irises and getting them to the right people in such a short time. We appreciate the opportunity to purchase these gorgeous plants at such bargain prices. As for rot.... the only way to insure that there is no bacteria or fungus on a plant is to sterilize it. no thanks, we want them to live and grow. lol
