Yep, my wife is the one who's generally cold and sleeps under as many layers as possible during the fall and winter months. I generally am the hot-natured one and sleep under just a sheet in the fall and winter and often with not even a sheet in the spring/summer months. Can guy's have hot-flashes? Sighing!

I'm always cold, I'm thin but not only bones. My husband who is only bones is always hot and always has all the fans going and turns down our heat and only sleeps w one little blanket over him when I have every blanket i can find over me. Actually, as we speak I'm in my office at work wearing boots, a scarf, and my ski jacket indoors. Maybe I'm the weird one?

Prolonged storage makes clothes shrink. That happens to me a lot!

My hubby always tells everyone that his clothes shrink between seasons when they are stored in plastic bags. He claims that plastic causes that, lol. On the other hand, I get so mad because he is a very disciplined person that loses weight so easily that I could just spit!!! This summer he decided that he wanted to fit into an older, favorite suit. He gives up his Bud Light and loses 22lbs just like that. NO FAIR. I would have to give up the beer and two meals a day and I wouldn't do nearly that good.

Our nighttime temp went down to 16F the last couple of nights and the plants in my hoophouse came through that with flying colors... but tonight we're supposed to hit 7F (it's already at 15), so that could bring them to an early demise Sad Supposed to get warmer (above freezing during the day, anyway) this coming weekend, so if they can just hold on for a bit longer...

So we've had unseasonably cool temps.....the high yesterday was in the teens with horrible wind chills. Our new furnace (just over a year old) decided to act up and kept shutting off. My DH stayed up all night to keep resetting it (of course everything is electronic these days). This is not the first time we've had this issue. Finally, they sent someone out (within an hour after our calling, to their credit) who did a couple of things. Everything seemed to be working fine. Not 15 minutes after he left, furnace turned off again. Tech was back in less than 10 minutes. Spent another hour or so tinkering/on the phone/etc. Finally cleaned out some coil in the heat exchanger and everything is now working fine. My DH got to sleep through the night last night in a warm, toasty home.

No complaints.. I know there are people who suffer from the cold terribly. I don't consider ourselves to be amongst them. I was kind of mad at DH when he called to complain about "our heat being off". We could have easily survived without heat for some time as we have a well-insulated home. electric blankets, and a gas-burning fireplace. I do worry a bit about my mom that lives with us, but she was fine. It just makes me concerned about all those that have poor/no heat during these cold temps. Today it got up to 32, but the winds are whipping fiercely. I think the windchill is 10-11 right now.

We have been setting record lows consistently. Had three straight nights in the teens with a 15 on Wednesday morning. Burned the tops off the Watermelon radishes, but broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, pak choy etc came through ok.

Our local radio station had mentioned that virtually some part of all 50 states had temps at or below freezing over the past few days. They played some clips from various weather reports around the country where they do not normally experience cold temps--it was hilarious! Some weather forecaster in California was warning of the danger of blowing leaves (and also mentioned her hair was blowing in the breeze). Another forecaster mentioned the temps were 42, and if it had gotten "just a little colder, they could have had snow".

I guess it's all a matter of what you are used to. Shrug!

Finally got my hoop house constructed the left side needs some work because the garden is just too wide for one pvc pipe and I also need some more plastic but so far so good.

Better late than never? Lol! I think I'm going to try to sprout some more plants to plant for an early spring harvest there's alot of stuff under there but I'm afraid it's too far gone from the frost and probably getting stepped on too much from the construction for it to actually make it. (Poor lil cabbage/broccoli/brussel sprout plants) BTW my ready to harvest carrots got dug up by my puppy and he ate like 20 of them and left half eaten ones all over the yard, I was so upset!

I harvested the last of my carrots on Sunday before our freezing weather hit. I need to start them earlier next summer....we had an unusually cold November which really stunted their growth.

Scurtis--those hoophouses look great!

Serious zone envy here!! Green Grin!

SCurtis, my dogs have always loved carrots too -- on the upside, at least the carrots are good for them! Smiling
