Hey Jack, check it out! I just happened to run across the ID for your cat above -- the tussock one. I was researching plants that Monarchs nectar on & BOOM! There it was. It is the Milkweed Tussock Moth aka Milkweed Tiger Moth. I had searched the other day to ID your cat, searching tussock cats to no avail.

Apparently the hairs cause an itchy rash but the cats are not poisonous or venomous. See:
