I'm back! I started a thread for all my pictures so I don't hijack this thread. Check me out here: The thread "Melanie's KY and WV butterfly adventure" in Gardening for Butterflies, Birds and Bees forum

Also, I had a welcome home caterpillar! This is an Orange-Barred Sulphur.

Thumb of 2014-09-30/mellielong/ad6091

My Sennas are just starting to bloom. The Sulphurs lay eggs on the buds as you can see. Cloudless Sulphur cats are normally green but turn yellow when they eat the flowers. They blend in really well!

And the Polydamas have been hard at work while I was gone. Sigh.

Thumb of 2014-09-30/mellielong/5ccc25

I keep finding these things. Are they bagworms? Anyone know anything about them?

Melanie, yes, those are bagworms. Thumbs down
Awesome photo of the polydamas eggs, you can see the tiny nubbins on them - wow!

Jack, awesome pics of the HBM, you've managed to capture that proboscis in so many movements. Thumbs up

The bagworms are interesting to watch, when they somehow fall off whatever they were attached to, and have to get themselves back up. This one pulled itself slowly, inch by inch, quite a ways!

Nice pics of the HBMs, Jack. Love those, but don't see them often.

I don't know how you get the mid-air shots so clear! Awesome! Lots of rain here in FL and very little butterfly action. But my Spicebush cats are eating and growing so that's something, I guess.
