Thanks all! I'm sorry to be frustrated by this all in my family life. I guess I'm one who puts it out there and it's not all easy and roses. The minutia is what seems to mire me down. Who knew that junk mail and bills could do that?

I am going to the greenhouses today. Yay! I need to sit and make my list of what to look for. I love the colors of the calibroachas but I've always had issues with them so last night I watched some videos and indeed they are finicky little stinkers.

I'd love to swap out colors but then I'm starting all over so maybe a few new to me colors in my annuals.

Hope everyone is well. I have a plan for today I hope I can meet it all!

I just finished cleaning my office desk and around it so the Tech guys can put in a new modem for my computer when they install the new fiber optics.

I would like to get outside to get some things accomplished before I have to take DH to the Dr. this afternoon. Tech guys coming at 1:00 and Dr. appointment at 2:45. I still need to go to the basement and get things moved around for the Tech guys to work down there if they have to.

Took a walk around the garden this morning. Still too much weeding needs to be done.
I had lots of sewing, so I'll try to make a dent in that too.

Annual shopping almost done. Note to self: SAFE MANY CUTTINGS AT END OF SUMMER. OMG prices went up and since I lost a big bunch of saved cuttings last year I will have to try again. I still need to get to the smaller greenhouse but I'll save that for the weekend and try to rein it in.

It all added up, but if I convince myself I can say it's a $1 a day for all this annual riot of potential color. And that's over 6 months. So I guess it's not terrible. Plus maybe what I'll do is lift plants this fall and winter and take cuttings over the winter. Maybe that's smarter. Who knows.

Dress is almost done and it now looks better that it's hitting me in the correct spot. Still need to put the hem in.

I may even cut out and make my second dress if this ends on a good note.

As for plants, need to head back to the basement as I had to water some and I really should move some of these to the porch. Change of plans, I'll wait through until Tuesday. Looks chilly tonight at 39. I'm sure they'd be ok but you get the picture.

My liatris is not happy and I don't know why. It was looking good be is temperamental right now because it's not getting FULL light is my guess. It has to share.

Does anyone know if I want to start more begonia can I do this by a leaf?

Dress is done! Will cut out the next one and get it underway. I also need to hem a dress of kid1 she no long wants as a maxidress. Sorry for all you non-sewers.

Got my liatris out in the sun right now. Hoping it perks them up some as they were not happy where they were. I had turned the trays around as usually do but I think they were heck bent on staying in the full high light. So now they are on the porch in a toenail of southerly sun.

I won't bring the rest up as tonight's temps says 39. Too close for problems to rear up. So everything will come in tonight.

I looked at my front beds and I need to do serious weeding. If kid2 will finally rake for me I'd be happy. He's been complaining there is a bees nest. No bee, age old wasp nest. Nothing to be concerned with. It's empty. But no matter how I convince him, he doesn't believe me. I look forward to getting started soon. May do a slight fertilizer app today w the rains coming.

Well I'm feeling a bit successful in my sewing.

Alrighty enough of my world. Enjoy yours!

I've never done leaf cuttings but most will root by stem easily. I have an angel wing begonia that I really need to get potted up that is a stem cutting and a tuberous begonia which I don't think can be rooted but can be divided if big enough which it isn't. Need a repot and new soil but my pots are buried for now so will have to wait.

Been storming here for awhile and it's moving out but the wind has picked up and it's strong enough I keep looking for limbs down. Tomorrow we have a high tornado threat and again Sat night. I have a birthday lunch to go to on Sat afternoon and she moved the time up due to the storms so we can all enjoy ourselves for a bit before we high tail it home. I'll be watching the weather while there so I know when to tell everyone to bail since most of us will be going in the same direction but they will go past me and closer to the city.

Stay safe Amanda. Group hug We are suppose to get rain Friday thru Sunday with high winds but I think I am far enough north that we should miss the worst of it. We are expecting somewhere near 2 inch before it is all over. Good cause we need it.

I took a few pictures of my flowers lately. So think Spring!

Jeanne: what is that field of lavender by your center garden?

Amanda: stay safe w potential for tornados. Those always cause extra worry.

AM: plants are back in the house - only 7 flats. The listris still is angry at me looking. Who needs that. It had been looking really good and then was not happy when I moved it around on the shelf. I turned end for end and it meant less light. Yep, not happy!

Still need to head to the basement and get things moved back to the lights. I had watered those unhappy buggers of which I had plenty. I'll water the rest tomorrow. I hope.

I'm glad the week is done but I have to go to a conference w the hubs which I'd prefer to bail as I'm so far behind. No dice on that front. I have so many other things I'd prefer to do. Won't be home until Sunday.

Happy evening all. Kid2 just got home so I need to give attention.

The lavender in this picture is creeping phlox.
Thumb of 2024-04-26/gardenglassgems/ad1b9f

It is really spreading. I can give you some after it is done blooming which I think is the best time to do it.

Does it creep where you don't want it? Would I have to plan a specific site?

AM: morning all!

Forgot the kids have off AGAIN. I swear they have way too many inservice days. I never had that many when I was in school.

Anywho, we'll be sprinting to town for groceries, a few sewing supplies I ran through, a new lightbulb for my sewing machine (have to stop at the quilt shop for that and then the greenhouse I didn't stop at yesterday. Can't go hog wild but will see what I might find.

I would rather stay home this weekend but I have to go. So maybe w the kids in the pool I can set w my clipboard and list and plan my garden spaces. I know most of you are where the spirit moves you to plant. I sometimes can, but I have limited space and try to get everything in that space. And at least it gives me some forethought. The only space I really follow my layout on is the dahlias so I know what I have where.

I thought some new to me plants. Some amaranth, celosia, some daisy looking thing that starts with a g. I'll have to take pictures of the tag and read on so I know what to do. Every year I try something different. Will see what this year does.

Happy day all. Stay safe if you are to have storms.

That phlox is beautiful, Jeanne. Thumbs up

Got a good amount of rain yesterday. That's good, because now I don't have to water the Iris. Lol. Call me lazy. *gasp* Just realized, I also won't have to water the potatoes! Call me extra lazy now.

Aced my math test yesterday, which felt pretty good. Now, to make sure I get a good score on that Latin test…guess I'd better go study. Ugh. The first year of learning a language is always the best, because it's fun. But then you get into the really boring stuff, you know, the small details like "conditional sentences" and suddenly you're not so enthusiastic about learning the language. Sound like I'm complaining? Yeah, I probably do. Hilarious!

Catch ya guys later.

Thanks Johannian, glad you like my phlox. Yes, Scarlet, it will creep but not like other reseeding flowers. The plant just stretches outward. I need to cut back some around the outside front which is getting to close to my other plants.

I am not going to be doing anything outside all weekend since it sounds like rain everyday plus the wind is awful. I need to go out and write down the names of the Iris that I have in pots. I only want to plant the ones that I do not have growing elsewhere. I might go out and move some small pots of Iris that I buried pot and all into raised beds. I have 2 beds full. I want to get them out and put on trays so I can plant other potted Iris in their place. The ones I take out will need to be up-potted into bigger pots whenever I can find the time to do so.

Have a great weekend. Have fun with DH and kids when out of town at the conference. I love staying in hotels when away from home which doesn't happen that often.

Heading home today!

I think once home I'm moving plants to the front porch. I probably will have to just in case cover them sometime in the next week overnight but it's time they move out. They can acclimate and enjoy the fresh air and some sun on their noses.

They say some rain today. Will see if that comes to fruition. We need it and I won't complain. Plus it smells good!

Did I tell you I found some different dahlias at the Walmart. I know that a lot of people knock those, but I have had some lovelies from the clumps.

Amanda: did the storms stay away for your party? No damage I hope!

Happy day all- enjoy your family's! I'll be on the road and hope to find some good growing when I get home.

The party was held early enough that we all managed to leave before the worst hit us. No tornadoes here thankfully. Just a noisy and wet night. The wind and heavy rain blew over a bird bath that wasn't set right but we won't get to fix that today. More storms coming this afternoon. So that one will just have to lay there but the other one is fine.

Glad to hear festivities happened and no real damage. It's pouring here and I wonder what it's doing at home. I should go look.

Once home I'm hoping to move those plants out and get the ones I bought Friday in the dirt. Yes I found two bags of dahlia clumps and I found some more asiatic lilys to tuck in the others because it looks like some did not come up.

Tomorrow is really a sewing day. Kid1s dress for the wedding and a second dress for me. Get that out of my way until the next sewing projects which may be some shorts for myself and quick curtains for the back door and basement windows. However I keep forgetting to get curtain rods for that project so I set it aside.

Gardenwise I may also plant up some things in the house to transplant out since the dang rabbits drive me nuts and gobble things up in a blink. Once dahlias are out of the basement then I'll have some space to set up one more mat and see what I can do in the presprout department.

I'll have to see. Neither sounds horribly appealing smell wise. And I have old lady neighbors who complain any chance they get. Especially once their windows are open. 😳

Didn't Dan over on dahlias say at one point he used rags hung on t posts around the perimeter soaked in it and it worked? Try that and see if it works. Just hang down low and high and try it. I use dry pepper flakes here. It works.
